I tried this one out on the Drowned In Sound forum and got a great result!

Basically, music you were weaned on. The stuff your parents love that you love too.

What artist/band do you share a love for with your parents?

Queen. Particularly "Bohemian Rhapsody". When I was little I can remember them putting this on in the car and I thought 'what is this rubbish!?!', mainly because of the opera sections. Now though, I think it's one of the best songs ever made.

Queen.

That's about it really, my mum has really cheesy taste and my dad's is too "rock" for me. Although I did like the Osmonds when I was little, and still like some of the songs, as my mum used to play the tape/CD in the car

I did nothing but moan about their music when I was growing up, so now my parents mock me for my favourite artists. From my mum - Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles, from my dad - Tom Petty, The Beach Boys and some Mott the Hoople.

The Beatles, always grew up listening to them in the car.
And now Westlife, I fell in love with them when I was about 12, and my mum's loved them pretty much since then too.

Ditto.

Some others:

Roy Orbison (Mum)
Simon & Garfunkel (Mum)
The Beatles (Dad)
REM (Dad)

They also like a lot of modern stuff that I listen to

My mum and dad adored Michael Jackson and from a a young age me and my brother were constantly being played his music through tv etc., safe to say many years later and even after death he still remains my favourite artist of all time.

My dad loves R.E.M and I share a liking for some of their songs too.
