I dont have a dog but i walk a chocolate lab and i live them. I would use a brush called the furminator. It brings out any loose hair on your animal.

Be a little careful with the furminator that it isn't taking hair out and only removing the hair that is already loose.

There is nothing really you can do to stop them moulting - it's part of nature - I've got four chocolates and they all shed at different times

My yellow moults all year around to a greater or lesser extent

While I am not a big fan of bathing Labs without good cause, a bath at the end of the moult can help to clear out all the dead hair, making them look a touch better and helping to speed up going back into full coat again

Yeah, we had a Golden Lab before our current dog, and he would moult almost constantly.

OTOH, our current dog is a Black Lab-x (crossed with a Staff), and he hardly moults at all.
