Freesat recording v Freeview
I know that you did try to explain Graham when i mentioned as part of another thread..
could i ask again in more simplistic terms please?. Yesterday we recorded the show.. 'So you think you can dance'.. The Results were separated from the main show by the lottery BUT recorded as one program seemingly.. but NOT in the Jig-saw mode. Now for 3 years i have been recording on my PANI ex75 and a Freeview of this event would be immediately tidied up by a]Deleting the Intro caused by prog over-run b] Splitting the recording c]Deleting the 'Lottery bit' d]Deleting any surplus at the end of the program.. Hence 2 tidy progs to watch on a summer evening.. I cannot fathom how the Humax..with years later technology.. cannot perforn what to me is an elementary housekeeping requirement .? Am i missing something? I have just been offered an extension of the Insurance cover for the PANI and will be taking it up as I now Re-record such progs as above to the Pani.. Throw in the oh so valuable RAM video and it's a delight.. I wonder if it's as easy to change the drive as many have done for the Humax and if the 'ts' recording convention applies to that as well? Possibly some readers have moved on from the Pani and left it behind.. but I cannot see myself doing that at the moment... certainly not while the old Plasma produces such vibrant pictures with deep blacks. It's purely down to the way the beeb coded the crid codes and when and how they sent the start and end running status flags. In this case the whole thing was classified as a single recording event. I would be very surprised if it was not exactly the same on a freeview+ box so the end result would have been identical. A true split event will have two seperate epg entries seperated by the epg entry for the intermediate transmission. I did not look at this on either of my freeview plus boxes epg's but pretty sure it would have been the same (1 entry only)
