Emily made comment about the song she was dancing to, explaining that it was about a woman who loved a man she couldnt have....and then said, "Oh, this is becoming awkward now".....

......does anyone know what she meant?

I think they were meant in jest about the fact that she was supposed to act like that with Fred.

Perhaps she's got crush on Fred.

I think it was a joke, Fred and Melanie are married and she has a boyfriend. He looks like he finds her a bit of a chore.

When you see him and Melanie skate together you see how fantastic they both are, it must be frustrating to have a partner that doesn't really try.

At least for Melanie, Mikey tries really hard and they have chemistry and share a sense of humour. Poor Fred is stuck with this child who really is very spoilt.

No surely Emily can't make a joke, she's far too busy throwing tantrums, not trying and annoying Fred (the same Fred cuddling her when she was feeling down about being injured).

How is she spoilt, how does she not try hard? She seems to me like she's trying hard after the first week (maybe she underestimated the competition as a whole?). I'm getting fed up fo repeating the same things but all Emily has come across as is a nice girl, who is a bit immature.

It's a bit unfair to compare his partnership with Melanie ( a professional who also happens to be his wife) to his partnership with Emily who hasn't had the experience.

Also I think it's unfair to say she isn't trying hard- if you compare it to the first week, I didn't think she took the competition seriously at all, but since then she has had great determination and has improved(she proved that last week for definate imo)

I agree...I'm quite baffled by this 'spoilt brat' name she's been tagged with.

Agreed, all this unnessecary nastiness about her is getting on my nerves.

I thought it was a joke too, but she kind-of bottled it, so it looked a bit awkward.

It does look as if she's not trying I have to say. Just a bit pathetic but I don't dislike her, just not that good.

My daughter was a top class trampoliner (or is it -ist?) in her teens (got to the national finals when she was 13). Then she went through this phase where she looked like she wasn't trying, a bit like Emily. She got very upset when we told her so we video-ed her, she was appalled when she saw it and her coach said it was because she'd had a growing spurt and her spatial awareness was all wrong. Mind you I guess Emily is 19 so should have stopped growing years ago, also she can see herself back on film every week so that's not a good excuse.

IMO the lazy argument from men that any woman who dislikes another woman is doing so because they are jealous of her looks is on a par with the lazy argument from men that any woman who rejects their advances is a lesbian.

It is possible for females to have an opinion on another woman that is not based on her looks - either positively or negatively. In fact, in my experience, women are far less likely to dislike another woman solely because of her looks than men are to like her purely because of them.

And from what I remember of them, 19-20 were not the best of ages, so I really would not wish to revisit them or envy anyone who is them. Life is much better when you're old enough to know your own mind and be less susceptible to the opinions of others.

My impatience with Emily is down to her attitude and seeming lack of commitment. Contrast her 'but it really hurts' with Hayley (I think) a few weeks ago saying that she had to skate through the pain because it's what the pros do every day of their careers.

I disliked Colleen for this same 'I'm a wounded soldier' attitude last year - now tell me I'm jealous of her.

i think emily is getting a bad edit...of course just my opinion but when she had finished the skate she seemed very mature and as if she was trying to hold back the tears...i did feel for her...she seems to have the most respect for the judges aswell...

The girl should be making the most of her time with Fred. If she really fancies him you'd think she would go all out to try and impress him on the ice. My opinion is that he's got a bit goo-goo-eyed about her! I can't see too much wrong with her skating really.

Didn't Fred say on a recent DOI Friday maybe the last one, that he thinks Emily is beautiful and can't keep his eyes off her?

Spot on - it was clearly a joke and she deliberately left a suggestive pause for us to use our imaginations!
