Hi all,

I got a Blackberry 8900 on Tuesday and it's great, except that I'm a little anxious about something I've noticed on my online bill.

I know I have the 'Blackberry mobile internet and email plan', so when I got my phone I browsed the web and used various apps as I liked. But now I've noticed a row on the 'unbilled usage' tab of my plan (Voda customers who are set up online will know what I mean) saying "Charges on top of your price plan to date - £36.975"!

First off, I've no idea what 'unbilled usage' is. Is it usage that won't be on the bill? Or that isn't on the bill yet

I'm now thinking 'shoot, I've been charged for going online through GPRS, but I thought that's what the pack was for, so what's going on?'

Now I've noticed the next line down says 'The charges displayed do not take into account any discounts' so maybe the browsing costs are discounted off as part of the pack?

Vodafone email and Twitter have been predictably unresponsive for a Sunday afternoon/evening, and I doubt anyone on here will know before I get a response from Voda, but theres a chance.

unbilled usage is just that, its usage you've made thats not yet been billed for.

phone 191 tomorrow, and tell them your concerns, should be able to explain the bill

Can you let us know the outcome please Jack, I might be in the same situ in a couple of weeks. I renewed my contact with Voda and got a B/berry and changed my tariff to suit my usage. However Voda did tell me due to billing dates, changing of tariff my bill might be slightly more than normal so we shall see what happends. Gulp!

Sure thing Prodigy71. It's not an extra amount on my bill because of a changed billing date. I just seemed to have accumulated £36 of data usage in under a week, which I thought was covered under the mobile internet and email pack. Which begs the question (for me at least) what does the pack cover?

I've emailed Voda web relations, and I'm now waiting for a response. Will keep you updated!

Did you upgrade on Vodafone from a tariff with no included data?
It may be that Vodafone not have changed you over to the new tariff yet.

Yes, it was a simple 300 mins, u'ltd texts. Perhaps they haven't updated my tariff, but when I ordered they said the new contract would start midnight on the 6th, and I'm still being charged for data until the 13th (as recent as my bill is online).

Still waiting for Voda to get back to me..

Now this is interesting, on friday (The day of my upgrade) was put onto 300 min ultd txt,net n email...I've also had b/berry messenger added. From what I understand the unlimited net gives you up to 500mb a month which will more than cover what you've used I'd have thought Jack. Keep us in the loop mate and good luck!

I'm essentially on the same tariff now as I was, just its for 12 months, and 'Blackberry mobile internet and email pack' has been added. Only problem being, I can't find anywhere what this pack covers!

Still no response from Voda..

It took them from Sunday evening until earlier this afternoon to reply to my email with, essentially, 'when would be a good time for us to call you?'.

This better blooming be worth waiting for. I seem to be racking up the charges by the day!

For anyone following this, I got a call this morning, and they've agreed to waive the charges because no one explained the data charges to me. They put me on the unlimited data plan as well.

I can't speak for Vodafone, but I can for O2 and Orange in respect of the data.

To use the data you must purchase the specific BlackBerry Internet Service add on, or it must be included in your price plan.

Some people don't realise that the way BlackBerry data works is different, so if you simply apply a normal data package to your plan, the BlackBerry won't use this data and you will be charged your out of bundle rates.

It has caused confusion for some in the past, but I'm glad Vodafone seem to have sorted the situation for you.
