My husband called me to shoo the cats out when he was doing the toilet. I told him, don't flatter yourself mate.

Me too!

My cat always has to come in the toilet with me unless he's asleep but then again, he follows me everywhere. Sometimes if I'm on the loo, he'll go and use his litter tray. He doesn't do it to the OH though.

Some of the posts in this thread are very funny, spechially the planting bit!
I always presumed it was the closed door that was the fault. The cat thought it was missing something?
Have you ever starred back at them in the tray, puts some of them right off! lol

My cat is obssessed with watching me put my make-up on, he will sit on the end of my bed and stare at me the whole time!

I wonder what her interest is

If I were her, I wouldn't go within 10' of the bathroom door, for fear of being asphyxiated. ”

An interesting and thought provoking thread, but I do object to the unnecessary crudity.

Please refrain from using such crude and vulgar words, as it is offensive. Thank you.

LOL mine used to sit on the side of the bath, until she fell in one day!!!

Also, thanks for relaying your story without the unnecessary vulgarities

I have seen many cats actually DRINK from the toilet bowl. Maybe they think the water is more fresh after the toilet has just been flushed??

People assume that cats bury their faeces as an act of cleanliness. Not so, it is actually because the smell lasts longer if it is covered! The cat likes that for all the reasons you mention.

Yes, it is true that cats do possess the emotion of embarrassment. Maybe it's the feeling of vulnerability??

Less of the cheek!!! It's probably more to do with the reflection of my mirror than the make-up, although if I come home to catch him wearing my lippy I won't be amused!

our old cat used to drink out of the freshly flushed toilet and from running taps.

the one we have now will sporadically sit politely outside the door (after you've gone in and without you knowing) and wait for you to come out at which point you will promptly go a**e over t*t over her; then she's objecting strongly and giving you filthy looks when she gets punted across the hall.

she has run headfirst in to the bathroom door once trying to get in and nearly knocked herself out as it was a sliding door that has a habit of coming off its runners!

Yes, i've seen cats do that too. I think they think that the water is more fresh.

Many cat's also like drinking from a running tap for the same reason.

Sometimes I put mine in the bath and let her drink from the cold water tap!

Hahahaaa! Love it! Love this thread, it's so true! My first trip to the bathroom in the morning 100% guaranteed I'll trip over the kitten!! x

Thank goodness, thought it was just my cat that did this!! Arnie will follow me into the toilet and make the mewling noise that cats sometimes make and try to jump on my lap. She then jumps onto the basin and expects me to put the tap on which is quite difficult to do in our bathroom from the toilet. She has always done this since she was a kitten (she's 10 now) and likes to walk along the edge of the bath as well and give me a fright when I am in the bath by putting her front paws on the edge and trying to join me in there. Stupid cat did it once as a kitten as well and got soaked ~ they never learn!!

Edit to add: she only does this when I go to the toilet/bathroom, if my husband is in there, she doesn't bother, still he takes ages in there anyway and she would probably be bored!

My cats are the same. As soon as the bathroom door is open they will run in and watch with fascination as I have a shit or piss. I'm waiting for the day I walk in the bathroom and find one of them having a shit on the bog.

I think I've found the answer.

This evening, despite the door being open, she stayed outside.

The reason?

I was smoking my pipe.

And before anyone asks, smoking my pipe is not a euphemism.
