Rechargable battery advice
golden boot
16-02-2010
Hi, this is my first post on here & hope you guys can help me.

I have a set of 3 portable phillips phones & I'm having issues with them & I think it's the batteries. They are 750mAh AAA & I am looking to replace them, however could I get a higher mAh & would this make them last longer?

Thanks in advance for you help.

You need the Eneloop type. Uniross's name is hybrio and 'ready 2 go'. Panasonic use 'Infinium' I think.

They come ready charged and do not self drain fast like normal rechargeables.
800mah to 900 mah is common but in reality should last far more than what you are currently using. (unless they normally run out in a couple of days)

Low self-discharge NiMH cells such as Eneloop and other brands are only advantageous if the device you are using it in won't drain the battery in less than at least a month (ordinary NiMH cells would be just as good and are available in higher capacities than the low self-discharge type for devices which will drain them in a month or less). That means they are best suited for use in devices which use no power most of the time, but occasionally need a lot of power (such as a torch) and you don't know when that need will arise (and if it only happens once or twice a year you may as well just use single-use alkalines as they'll hold their charge even longer and work out just as cheap overall).

I would imagine most phones will drain AAA NiMH cells in less than a month, so your best bet would be standard NiMH cells of as high a capacity as is available.

Yeah, you can get AAA batteries of 900mAh or more, they'll increase your talk time. Chances are your old batteries are on the way out too, so they're not giving you the full 750mAh anyway. As said above, no need for Eneloops on a portable phone if it spends most of its time sitting on the base station.

I was thinking 'headphones' which can lay around unused for weeks.

I think Lidl or ALdi have good capacity standard ones at less than £3 for 4.

Try 7dayshop. I picked up some sets of FAMEART 1000MhA batteries for £2.99 per pack of 4 AAA's last year. Not sure if the offer is still on. Very good batteries
