Nexus One on Gadget Show
Has anyone else noticed the Gadget Show on Channel Five is getting worse every series?
Last night they reviewed the Milestone, HTC HD2 and the Nexus One. They gave the Nexus One 3 'Gs' out of 5 which is an arguably harsh review, but they recently reviewed it in their website and gave it 4 Gs! Not to mention the fact that the actual review was about as useful as Katie Price in a science lab! |

I thought it was a good review. I think the Nexus One has been overhyped by the tech crowd. The HTC HD2 looks very nice. It has Windows Mobile behind but HTC has covered most of it. It looks fast and HTC seem better at creating interfaces than Google.
It seems odd that the touchscreen is better on the HTC HD2 than the Nexus One when they are essentially the same hardware with 2 different mobile operating systems. Maybe Microsoft and HTC have done a better job than Google? Microsoft has a bad reputation at the moment with mobile. However, Windows 7 is good, the Zune is now good and Bing is gaining on Google Search. If Microsoft can get on more phones like the HTC HD2 and Windows Mobile 7 is good then Microsoft could easily compete with Google and Apple. People keep saying how amazing the Nexus One is when the HTC HD2 is the same thing and HTC and Microsoft seem to have done a better job. |

These phones are smartphones, all john bentley tested that it showed was the touchscreen, the camera & the video recording.. im pretty sure these phones can do a little bit more than that - it was a very poor review!!!

I had to return my HTC HD2 after a week, because I didn't get on with Windows Mobile or the keyboard. I came to it after having an iPhone 3G, and Windows on a mobile is as annoying and glitchy as it is on computers - several times I had to force it to reset because it got tangled up and was refusing to respond. The keyboard was very poor in terms of detecting what key I was pressing, especially compared to the iPhone.
I swapped it for a Samsung Galaxy i7500 android phone and I prefer Android as an OS above Windows, and the keyboard is better. My only gripe is a short battery life, but it was similar with my iPhone. |

I wish they spent more time doing actual product reviews rather than all the other crap. BBC's Click is alot better imo.

What the review showed, as it discussed the different strengths and weaknesses of each phone, is that the best option would be an HTC handset with Android OS.
aka - The HTC Hero. Why does this stunning phone keep getting overlooked by the iphone obsessed Gadget Show? |

He was putting the point across of how easy it is to use the main features that a lot of people will use. |

The whole show is now hardly watchable - most of the gadgets not even remotely of interest to me anyway .... The whole show is not what it used to be ... too far fetched |

It has always been far fetched. I remember when they wrote off the iPhone because the N95 was easier to text from when you were bungie jumping.

I'd rather they did a half-hour show rather than me having to fastforward through a lot of rubbish. The other week they were racing buggies on the sand. Where does that come under the "gadget" umbrella?!

I find BBC Click boring. I much prefer watching The Gadget Show. I guess I am in the minority though.
Either way, if you are a true tech head then you wouldn't rely on these shows with so many blogs and Twitter that by the time they broadcast it is yesterdays news anyway. |
