Disengaging from the +Bit

Learning to live with the Quirks of the Humax..
and the Series facility is a godsend.. most recently for 'Coachtrip'..

Despite that..
We have now bought a spare Sky+ in case our Pace goes wrong..
and My wife will.. as ever over the years..
happily use the Sky remote in the lounge and the other one in the bedroom...
Not once has she ever used other than the FAVs and Power on switch and the Mute of course..
She has her own likings on the Box ..
but three or four times a week we watch together
and then the New Panni Sound system comes in and the Humax already recorded progs..
which enable 1 MIN FWD timesavings and enhance continuity..

The Sky box has several dozen hours of progs on and I am planning to move them to the Panni..
Is there any benefit in using the facility in the SKY menu of 'COPY'
as it still uses the normal playback speed..
or will normal play and record produce the same results?
I have searched but can find no specific reason to use Sky's own 'Copy'..

Then i can give the 31 days notice to Sky..with relish as
I once asked Sky for their then FREE Broadband and they said..
"Not where you live"..
with me 20 miles from London!!
Is it any wonder that i want an English Parliament.

Are you saying you want to link the Sky+ box to the HDR and use the copy function to move things across?

When I had Sky HD I used to use the copy facility to dump the HD version of “Lost” on Sky 1 to the DVD recorder via the scart connection for my daughter to watch at her home.

Naughty I know but Murdoch did not know and I am not going to tell him besides, it’s good to get one over on Rupert.

It did only copy in real time so I would set it up then watch or do something else but once the copy is on DVD you can do the normal FF Skip or any other trick plays the DVD player can do.

If you copy to your Panasonic’s hard drive you can edit out any ads as well.

Some hope Cheule as Graham has tutored me in the limitations of such HI-Flown technology,,
So am left with the good but aging Panni..

So thank you too SkipTracer..

Would 'COPY' do anything bettter than normal play and record to the DVD and what speed [MINSper DVD] would be appropriate for old sky progs in SD? I have a vague suspicion that years ago ..I saw along the lines that ..the prog was deleted after copying..was that ever the case i wonder?

I obviously FAILED miserably in getting multiple Quotes in

It has been at least two years (maybe even three) since I used the copy feature on the Sky box but as far as I can remember it did not erase the original recording after copying.

AFAIK there is no high speed dubbing feature when using the copy facility as you get with some of the Freeview HDD PVR’s, DVD recorders.

Yeah it should be just like the good old days when we used to do tape-to-tape dubbing on our stereos. Before hi-speed dubbing kicked in.
