Funny Music for Mikey last Saturday...
SCD-Observer

Does anyone noticed the music was really bad for Mikey's Valentine Routine? Unfortunately I had a perfect pitch (not singing, but hearing) so the off-pitched, bothering on rubbish singing track almost detracted me from enjoying his routine.

I think he's been given a few dodgy songs...

Must admit I don't even remember his music. What was it?

I thought quite a lot of the music was a bit crap for Valentines day-apart from Hayley's who seemed to get the ultimate love song -definitely helps the routine if the music is good!

Have to agree and I'm a big Hayley and Dan fan.

I thought their music was easily the best in terms of the audience relating to the emotional aspect.

Quite a few of the songs I'd never heard of!

Keiron and Brianne's was the best song, but then I hate the song Hayley and Dan had.

Can anyone remember what the songs actually were? Most of them I completely forgot as soon as I heard them!

Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville, 'Don't Know Much'. Yep, that's a bit of a classic.

Someone had 'My Cherie Amour' by Stevie Wonder, Sharron had 'We Want The Same Thing' by Belinda Carlisle, Danniella had 'You Got The Love' by Florence and the Machine, Emily had 'Saving All My Love For You' by Whitney Houston. Forgotten the rest.

That one right hacked me off. It's a great song, but they could at least have given us the original!

Personally I think the music has been terrible this year. I don't know if it's because ITV have trouble acquiring the rights to songs but most of them have been bland and boring. Hayley and Danniella and perhaps Kieron are the only ones who seem to be getting anything recent. I'm probably just a silly 24 year old having a strop but earlier years seemed to have a fair mix with something for everyone.

Yes OP I was thinking the same thing whilst I was watching!

It was so nice to see him happy and back on form again though, so I didn't want to put a dampner on things, but glad I wasn't the only one who felt the song choice was poor. It didn't suit him at all. And did it sound out of tune to anyone else?!

I just watched it back and I still don't recognise it.

Yeah I thought that, maybe it was Daniella's choice?

Mikey's music was "Love on a Mountain Top" by Robert Knight. It's an old song from the early 70's.

Think there's been a couple of different versions of that song out - I don't recall hearing that one before.

I suppose it depends how old you are Unfortunately I recall the Robert Knight version from I think 1973/74. I think it's an old Northern Soul record.

Sinitta also had a dance/disco version out in 1989.

I think the music on DOI this year has been quite good. Except the country type as the skaters just stand and clap, which is funny but pointless.

I clicked the link to see if it's the same version I heard on the night. Gah! It was still gawd-awful! *vomit emoticon*

I'm certainly old enough to remember the original, perhaps I heard a better "take" of the recording, or maybe him or someone else singing it on TV...either that or my memory is fading/blocked it out owing to the sheet crokey-ness of it!
