Check out the Motorola Milestone. Both touch and QWERTY slide out keyboard. Cant go wrong with it!
I've tried touchscreen and it was easy to make mistakes, I had to be constantly looking at the screen. With a slide-out keyboard there's more space taken up in my hand, I'm not going to be able to reach all the buttons with my thumb and I'm not going to be impressed with a handset which requires me to change the way I do things just to use it. I enjoy having a good pop at the iphone as it does have it's faults however I recognise it (and other touchscreen phones) has a loyal fanbase but I will never be one of them. |

Strange, my surprisingly awkward partner had a Viewty for over 18 months and had no problems using it whatsoever.
I had a Nokia 5800 for about 2 days a year back, decided it just wasn't right, and gave it to my stepson as a birthday present, he seems to absolutely love it. Had an iPod Touch and it was okay, I could never get on with it as my primary device for music, let alone as a phone. Now I've had a Nokia 5230 for a few days and its continually surprising me. Nokia have evolved the UI from the original abortion that was on the 5800 to something quite usable. Its a good phone, good satnav and a very good music player. Its also as good as the iPhone for browsing (and maybe better/faster) once you install Opera. |

A few work colleagues have the iPhone and were encouraging me to get one at my upgrade. Then I was given an iPod touch as a present.
My issues are: typing. I make less mistakes on my Blackberry Bold and it's easier to correct them. Especially when taking notes in meetings. I have to go through three screens to get to some symbols on the iPod. Overall find the BB easier to type with. Internet: scrolling on a page with many links I find difficult. Invariably I'm opening links as I'm scrolling making ittime consuming. On the plus side Safari is a really useful browser but to speed up my BB I've installed opera. The iPod is good for music and downloading from iTunes kor the app store. Nice gimmicky gadget but i'm glad I got to try it before investing in an iPhone. However each to your own and if you like touch screens that's fine. I need a fixed keyboard for my needs. Took me longer to type this on the iPod due to the virtual key board. |
