Sorry if this topic has already been discussed but I have a specific issue.
I can not get my ipod touch to connect to the internet. I have a BT Home Hub 1.0 and I get the network on my ipod touch wi-fi settings but when I look for safari or mail or bbc reader,
it says I have not connected to the internet.
Looking at the network settings on the ipod touch, under DHCP, the IP address is shown (169......) and there is a number string under subnet Mask (255....)
The router, DNS do not have any information shown.
I have tried the renew lease option but nothing happens and I am not prompted for a password even though it is a secure network.
Can anyone help ? I have been using the touch without internet for a long time now and it is getting frustrating.

It sounds like DHCP is failing on either the router or the iTouch, because an IP address of 169.x.x.x is probably in the 169.254.x.x range which is a reserved set of addresses which are allocated by the device itself when it does not receive setup information from what it is connecting to (your router in this case). Since you have said you have tried choosing 'Renew Lease' on your iTouch, then it sounds like some info is no longer valid but it is unaware of it.

I'd recommend choosing 'Forget this Network' on the DHCP screen for that network on your iTouch, then go ito Settings WiFi and choose to connect to your router, entering the password (which should now be asked for as it will have deleted the password it had stored previously for it), and it should hopefully acquire all the required connection info via DHCP.
