Are we really expecting a good BB show this year?.
Thats the question im asking.

I remember last year how exciting the build up was,
how utterly disappointed i was with the end result, BB4 was a washout.

But i clearly remember something a forum member said in the run up to last years show that i think is so true.
I cant remember the exact quote, but they said hoping that BB4 will be brilliant is like that feeling you get when you go out to support your division 2 football team, you hope and pray for magic, but it doesnt often happen.

Another thing i feel alot of forum members clicked on last year is that the reason they are still watching is because of past glories like BB1 and BB2 and even BB3, but when you look at it logically, the fuel for the BB fire has long since been burned out, we saw that with BB4.

I think we would be mad to expect anything good this year, my bet is that we will all be complaining just as much this year. The idea of BB is tired now, i dont know what can breathe life back into it, but really you cant get much more of a gimmick than the BB Africa swap so how much more elaborate can it get?..

Well I am certainly expecting a great show, I know the producers need to make up for the awful series last year so I feel some comfort that this show will be much better!

"Are we really expecting a good BB show this year?"

Hoping: Yes!
Getting: No!

The producers did nothing when the last show was going down the plug-hole when they still had time: What hope of them doing anything different this time?

The contestants were boring and the GBP (aledgedly) voted Superbore Shameron as the winner - why should that supidity change this year?

We have already acheived the BB Holy Grail of two people having sex (Well done Tommy!) - So whats left?

Just the usual batch of "Goodmorning presenters" auditions! - Yawn!

I expect the Die-Hard BB fans with meet the new show with optimism and joy and then by halfway through, they will join the rest of us who have seen it as bad from the start.

No sex goal?! - they are going to have to find something really original this time or it Bye Bye BB !!!

It's all been done!

This is BB's last chance. All other chances were used up on BB4. Because of loyalty to BB1, 2 and 3 I stuck with last year's as I was convinced there would be some redeeming twist at the end. This year I'll give it two weeks, that will give me enough time to see what the atmosphere of the show is, and who is voted off first. If it is crap, it will be the first time in four year I will have a tan, as I will not be inside watching TV ! I think lots of loyal viewers will be thinking the same. LAST CHANCE C4 AND ENDEMOL!!!!

One reason BB4 flopped - Jon Tickle. Nasty Nick, Brian and Jade were all huge stars of Big Brother, but never overshadowed the show itself. For some reason, the media picked up on Jon Tickle and he came to represent the show - boring!

I know in my opinion the best three weeks of the show were without Jon Tickle and if had remained off the show chances are it would have recovered within the last couple of weeks. But he didn't, so it didn't.

Yes, that sounds familiar..................

That was me last year..............having spent the previous six months taking the mickey out of the shrieking, show-off, obnoxious wannabees of BB3 i was desperate for a calmer, more laid back show to relax into and get some conversations amongst characters that we might get to like

Weeks into the show I was still asking people to give it time

Not sure when it happened, but at some point I realised that I was wrong and other FMs were right - it was cr*p

I fully expect that this year they will react to last years show by swinging back towards BB3 - extrovert, loud, annoying types

In which case I think it will be better - but no doubt after a few weeks of high decibel shrieking many of us will start complaining about it

Ah well, that's life...............

The BB3-ers were noisy, loud and extrovert but that's not all they were - some of them anyway. I don't think Endemol/C4 have got much clue why that show worked so well, so I don't think they will be able to replicate the interest it generated.

In other countries BB2 seems to have been the high point and BB3 the disappointment - they just hit lucky here with the mix of contestants in the BB3 show, IMO.

They may manage something similar to BB1 or 2 this year, which will keep the real die-hard BB fans happy - but I'd be surprised if they achieve the interest and ratings of BB3.

Pity, but there it is.

IACGMOOH3 was brilliant though.

Actually, saying that, has reminded me what I adored about BB3 and IAC3. Both shows were completely hilarious, really funny - and that's why I loved them both. If BB5 manages that - and some personality and charisma in the contestants - I'll be happy. Fat chance though I guess.

Oh yes, and shagging on the show - without previously having built up real interest in the relationship and sizzling sexual tension - really isn't very interesting. And even then, you'll probably make just as much money in magazine deals if you keep the "will they, won't they" thing going until after you get outside. Contestants take note.....

For me BB2 Uk was the high point. Although I enjoyed BB3 I found it much too nasty (both from housemates and situations) to be considered truly entertaining. BB2, for me had it all, drama, romance, some arguments, friendship and most of all laughter!!!

I'm sure Endemol/C4 would be happy to match BB2 this year after the fiasco last - even though BB2 actually got the lowest ratings, phone votes etc, of any of the shows if you look at the figures. Those who like it best - and there are lots who do, particularly on the forums - tend to be the real die-hard BB fans. It didn't really connect with the wider audience in the way that BB3 did.

BB4, of course, did relatively well by surviving on past glory - people couldn't believe that it would stay so crap for the whole of the series.

The ratings they did get were thoroughly undeserved.

Easy. Phone through a couple of comments on the programme and let the junior hack assigned to the job ghost write it

Even if you sit down and produce a beautiful column the subs will still cut it to shreds and rewrite it.

Agree with most of the comments in this post. This is BB's last chance and they better not screw it.

BB2 was my favourite entertainment wise out of all the BB's except ive got to say I enjoyed BB3 the most as it got better and better as the series went on and I watched alot of live streaming that year.

Last year though was a different kettle of fish. I stuck with it and stuck with it hoping it would get better, but did it ? No. I gave up with the E4 streaming toward the end of the show as it was suicidally boring. And again it was revolved around 'love' stories and sex which was never, ever going to happen. The Shameron and Steph 'love' angle really made me feel physically ill. And the Nush/Scott story was so over hyped by the producers, you only had to watch 30 seconds of them live to see just how uncomfortable they were together (the night when they were both in the reward room - ugh ) And the South Africa swap was a shambles. And Big Brother was far too nice to the housemates considering just how bad they were. Saying that you can't really blame them, its the producers.

This year they must get every aspect of the show right, or the ratings will go this year. I think the reason ratings remained constant last year was because BB2 then BB3 were so good and people were expecting BB4 to match. However this year we still have BB4 fresh in our minds so if this one is as crap people will switch off.

Also they need to sort the bloody tasks out, and get rid of the Saturday night shows all together. I think weekly tasks should be back (the fire task off BB2 - great) not the crap like "pick a straw" - that last year really was taking the piss was it not?? The right mix of people is really needed, don't make the same mistake as last year .. please not again.

I was hoping they'd drop the sex angle this year, but if the reports about a private bedroom are true then it doesn't look like it. If I want to watch shagging on the telly I'll switch on Channel 5.
