Archie Mitchell v Den Watts
They were exactly the same!
They both had a spoilt brat of a daughter. They both had another one they weren't bothered about. They both had a long lost son. They both conned the Mitchells out of the Vic... and both moved in on Christmas Day. They both hated the Mitchells. They were both killed in the same way. But who was more evil? |

They're even similar height and dress sense. You forgot that. But Till the later years Den only wanted the best for his family. He had a good heart but EE made him into an a**hole.

In all seriousness I've thought they were similar for a while but when a character has the ammount of good reaction from the public, can you blame them for trying to replicate him?

Archie was far more evil IMO, and Den didnt evict his own family from the Vic on Christmas Eve like Archie did

They were both really good at mind games. I wonder who would win a conversation between those two?

Den was preferable and had more class than Archie. He didn't need to try and be funny when he wasn't he just was always in control of things except at the end of course. Den wasn't untouchable but he would never have got himself into a situation where Phil was about to pour cement or water over his head or have Jack Branning roughing him up. Archie was a weak shallow character in reality with very little backbone and very little courage. He was a charmer or liked to think he was but in truth he was all mouth and no trousers. Den would have had Archie run out of town if they'd ever met just like Johnny Allen got shot of Andy Hunter.
I also don't find the Ronnie/Roxy/Archie thing as good storywise as the Watts storyline from the mid 80s and 03-05. Roxy for all her whinging always forgave Archie and despite all of Ronnie's supposed hate she still cried when his body was brought out of the vic. There was very little chemistry between Archie and his daughters. Sharon, Angie, Den, Vicky, Dennis and Chrissie had far better scenes and it all worked much better. |

Also they both had a romp with Phil's woman - Kate and Suzy.
