Is it unlucky to move with cats?

I have often heard that it is unlucky to move with cats. I have heard advice of how to avoid said bad luck i.e. by going for them after the household stuff has been brought in so it's 'not as if you moved in with them' or passing them in through a window of the new house as it would not be seen as moving in with them as they had 'not entered by the front door'.

I'm afraid I am rather superstitious and am concerned as I plan to move later this year and I have 3 cats.

Quite often I have heard about cats apparently being left behind when their owners have moved away and I have wondered if it was just that they too had heard that it was unlucky to move with the cat and so just abandoned it.

No, that isn't the reason. It's just that the owners couldn't be bothered to take the cat with them.

Rest assured that when you move house, taking cats with you will not bring any kind of bad luck, no matter how they enter the new house.

Gosh, there are some strange threads, aren't there? What sort of eejit would abandon living creatures because of superstition?

Iīd say itīs really bad kama to leave a poor little cat behind when you move.

Just to be on the safe side, move out all your stuff, then go and get the cats and pass them through the window of your next place, to be on the safe side of course. Oh and be carefull with those mirros, you wouldnīt want to drop one now would you?

Sorry but what a load of cobblers. Stop being ridiculous and just move them as you would any furniture, cats adapt fine.

OP - I have to say this wins the most 'bizarre thread of the day' award for me!!

What a load of nonsense....

If you are that superstitious then don't move!! Simples!

We thought our house move might be the end of our 14 yr old kitty, but no, she acquied 3/4 of an acre of new mouse farm, and set to work. 2 1/2 yrs later, she is stretched out on the sofa, and 2 younger cats have taken the load off her shoulders on the mousing, leaving her more time to relax.

What a silly idea. My past 3 moves were doomed according to this
