iPhone 3G to iPhone upgrade - simcard procedure
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm awaiting delivery of a 3GS iPhone from o2 after deciding to upgrade my previous 3G iPhone online. Will the 3GS iPhone come with a new simcard or do i simply put my old simcard in it? I'm a little bit concerned as 18 months ago i upgraded from a Nokia N95 to a iPhone at the Carphone warehouse to a iPhone 3G i was told by the assistant to use my old simcard which i did. All was fine till after a few days the iPhone stopped working. I rang up for advice and was told i should have used a new simcard which came with the iPhone (of which there was never a mention of at the time of purchase) I thought no problem it's working ok now after swapping the simcard over. Then a few days later i recieved a bill for £450 for data charges. I rang to query this explaining that i had followed the assistant's advice and was basically told tough you'll have to pay I insisted on speaking to a manager who was more sympathetic and was told to return to the store. I eventually (after about six weeks ) had my money refunded. Sorry if this is a bit long winded but you can see my concern at making an error again

Use the SIM that you currently have in your iPhone 3G. The 3GS should come without a SIM if you are just upgrading from a 3G.

Well that's not confirmed but i guess you maybe right. I just felt it was time to upgradeand liked the idea of being able to take video as well as photos plus my previous model was 16gb this is a 32gb. Maybe i'm just impatient
![]() and your 32gb will only be half the 64gb the new one will be. plus its fairly common knowledge the camera is going to be much improved if that's important to you. |

Steve Jobs has always said in public there will be a new iPhone every 12months.

It's not all bad news. As the contract terms are 18 months and you can upgrade in the 17th month, you'll be due for an upgrade soon after the release of next years model
![]() (unless you went for the 24 month deal) |
