I found his Kieron/Tarzan comment quite odd

I agree, I usually like his comments but I thought that one was a bit offensive. I wonder if Mike had been Asian/black/obviously gay etc., etc, if Tony would have dared say anything disrespectful about them.!!!!!

I think the OP realised that which is why she said her husband was an Irish Builder

I don't find Tony's quip about the Irish patio-building cowboy funny nor do I find it offensive all the same.

I have a friend who's a builder who worked for an Irish boss and was very, very badly treated. Even so, I wouldn't say all Irish builders are bad.

Some of his comments are rather bizarre, but that's why i love them!

Love some of the names of the lifts too

As a one-legged, Welsh teacher, I know only too well how personal humour can be and I don't take offence - for myself or, as is figured here, on behalf of others. "Oh, how will an Irish builder feel" rages 'angry from Surbiton'. I'll tell you - if he is a genuine builder he won't give a stuff, because he too rants about the cowboys. If he is a builder but not Irish, he will laugh - having suffered the indignity of following up other 'builders' (often Irish) who regularly con the public, particularly the elderly.

Well done Mr Gubba, and don't let the politically correct 'angry from Surbiton' tell you any different.”

Well I am a teacher too and I don't like it when sweeping generalistions are made about nationalities! There are many shoddy conning builders in this country not just irish ones!

You shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush.

Now theres a joke

Are you an Irish builder?

Tony's comments are meant as abit of banter - gentle comedy.

They're not meant to offend. Wouldn't worry too much.

I like his commentary

I am neither Irish nor English. Nor Welsh nor Scottish for that matter. Oh, I am not a builder, but have a buddy who's a builder who worked for an Irishman.

Why do you ask?

I cheer your ability not to laugh at an Englishman, Irishman, Scotsman joke - hip hurrah.

I just love Welsh sheep-shagging jokes!

No punchline, I'm afraid. Incidentally, I agreed mostly with your other post.
