It's not like he needs the money. Richest living musician, isn't he??

One of the funniest things about McCartney is what he said when he was first asked for his reaction the day after John Lennon was killed, he just said 'it's a drag...'

I think his real feelings went a little deeper than that.

As the other poster mentioned we know Paul's feelings went deeper than that! He really regretted what he said in the midst of panic and confusion. You only have to hear the song Here Today to know how deep his feelings went.

Anyway the post was about Paul's back catalogue disapearing from itunes. I'm not sure why, but could this have anything to do with talk of possible remasters of his solo and Wings work? Though I thought this wasn't due until 2012?

Remasters would make sense I'll see if maybe the release date has been brought forward maybe to make EMI some money

I'd imagine there's a contractual issue between him and EMI.

Could be as well. I believe Paul left EMI a couple of years ago and is now signed with One Little Indian Records after a dalliance with the Starbucks label. If he is no longer signed to EMI this is probably where the problem lies with downloads at the moment.
As well as the remasters it would be great to see some of his unreleased stuff out on a rarities box set.

There are several Mccartney albums still avaliable but ones not on the emi level like the live album from last year.

Expect something will be sorted out soon as this seems to not to be a Uk only issue, Itunes in America has also lost all his stuff

One thing that bugs me is sometimes they take forever to sort out digital deals when licence's run out still waiting for Kate Bush's 80's and 90's albums to return to itunes, napster etc

I'm sure I heard something about a rarities boxset being released in the spring this year.

Hmm if they are bringing a boxed set out maybe they'll bring the remasters out around the same time

As a few folk have already mentioned:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Little_Indian_Records

In 2009, after a 45-year partnership with EMI, Paul McCartney has decided to end all ties with them and move his entire collection of solo material to One Little Indian Records, giving them the rights to repackage and rerelease some of his most prized records.
EMI no longer has this catalogue, so are no longer able to supply this catalogue to Itunes. It is currently "pending" (hmm ... wanted to think of a better word, but couldn't) with "One Little Indian" ...

Thats going to cause quite a loss for EMI I reckon and to a previous poster, McCartney had a great number of terrifc songs, sadly the worse ones seem to be the most popular.

One Little Indian is the best little label going. Paul McCartney spoils it for me
