Iphone 3g and 3Gs
Hi all,
I'm currently with orange as a PAYG customer but looking at their pay monthly options, they don't seem that bad compared to other providers. They do a £30 a month for a 3g (with free phone) or £35 a month for a 3gs with phone cost of £90. The question is, if I went for the 3g would I always be kicking myself wishing I'd gone for a 3gs. The voice activatation appeals to me, and, and as I'd mainly be using the phone for internet browsing and apps (not so much talking and texts) is the 3gs quicker in that department. Many thanks. |

having just had a lost 3G replaced with a 3GS I can say first hand there is a very noticable improvement in speed. The 3GS internet browsing is much quicker and IMO the screen is slightly clearer.
If your looking to get an iphone for its internet and apps then I can absolutely recommend the 3GS over the 3G. both will do the job but one will do it better

Thanks. I was worried that if I bought the 3G I'd always regret not paying that little bit more.

3g would be fine for ya as long as you dont have a play with a 3GS... I always thought my 3g was great and was a little concerned when insurance told me they could only replace it with a 3gs, little did i know how much better it was!

I would agree. The 3g is great until you use a 3gs which is much faster. The camera is much better too.

Furthermore, I didn't want a £35 contract and pay for a phone, so I got an upgrade for O2 for another phone. I got Minutes/Text/INternet for £20 and a free phone, which I intend to seel to make some money back from it... If I was you, I would atleast consider this option. |

The 3GS will work out at an extra:
£5 * 24 month = £120 Cost for Phone = £90 Total £210 Almost every reviewer has said the changes are extremely minimal between the two phones including the likes of Paul Thurrott and definitely not worth an extra £210 Also the next gen iPhone will likely be out in like 4 month which I imagine will be a much bigger upgrade as the last one was a minimal spec bump. |
