Inspired by cuttysark's recent thread asking if 'Human' by the Killers is the perfect pop song and that as soon as it is played everyone gets up to dance and the dancefloor is full........

Which songs if played at a function are guaranteed to get the dancefloor full?

I'll have to think some more but off the top of my head...

Higher & Higher by Jackie Wilson
Valerie by Amy Winehouse/Zutons
Shake A Tail Feather from the blues brothers

I love dancing like an idiot as much as the next person, but the above would only send me off to the bar

so what WOULD get you dancing?

[PS I wouldnt be dancing either - I'd be sampling the buffet - but I have observed that these songs get people up to dance.]

I Gotta Feeling, Bad Romance and Adagio For Strings seem to do the trick where I go out.

I'm afraid I'm rooted firmly in the 80s, so most likely (and in my experience sufficiently all-purpose disco friendly) the usual suspects like Chain Reaction and The Only Way Is Up.

80's ROCK!

I'd probably tap my foot to 'Just Can't Get Enough' - Depeche Mode.

What else, everyone, I'm curious?
If I were a DJ what would get my dancefloor full at a function?

JCGE would certainly do it for me!! But in terms of floor-filling, I don't think it's the sort of tune that is renown enough to get Uncle Leftfeet and Auntie Embarrassment up to get down.

Moving on a bit, S Club 7's 'Reach' tends to have the desired effect.

I must be getting old.
I have never heard this before.

I also listened to the original.

Both have a funk groove.
Think I like the original better.
Thanks for the link.

Poker Face

Just checked that out on you tube.
I have heard the song before but didn't know what it was called. [I'm probably old enough to be her mother.]

Catchy though. I'd dance to it.

The original of Don't Stop Believing is more my era.

Anything by Lady Gaga I find - and with reason - those songs are awesome! (And superb live )

I Gotta Feeling by the BEP tends to be a floor filler.

No probs!

You might also like MGMT's 'Kids', if you don't already know it?

Dead catchy and enjoyable, good dancefloor filler as well.

Grease Megamix and Come On Eileen.

If at least one of these isn't played at your wedding reception, then you're not legally married.

Not any more. I asked 'How about a bit of 'Come On Eileen'?' and I was thrown out!
