So wud i be able to transfer my number from the 6700 onto wenever i get the nokia 12mp camera phone, and the minutes from the 6700 i will give to my mum as she has a virgin phone.

I know i sound absolutely ridiculous but just enquring lol.

Your number is attached to the SIM card not the phone.
So as long as a phone is unlocked (or locked to the same network as you SIM card,) your SIM card should work in it.

But that wasn't what he asked. He wanted to know if he could keep the Virgin contract going but transfer the number to a new contract with a new phone. His mum would then have her number on his old contract.
The answer is No.

You can ask for a change of number, but there might be a charge.
Why don't you just get the new phone with a contract and give your mum the new SIM from the new contract?

Why can't you? Would be much easier to give your mum the new SIM from the new contract and you keep the SIM you are using at the moment.
