Cutting down on tea
I often hear people talking about cutting back on the amount of tea they drink and that it is good practice to drink a glass of water between each mug of tea. I drink quite a lot of tea (probably about 6-8 cups a day on average) and never have any trouble sleeping. What other maladies are attributed to too much tea/caffine consumption?
Has anyone here actually cut the amount of tea they drink and noticed a change in their life? |

I drink about 9 or 10 cups a day when I'm at home, but decaf so I don't have any issues there.
I did cut down a bit when I was anaemic though - both tea and milk can prevent iron from being absorbed, so you're not supposed to drink tea for 2 hours before or afterwards (I usually managed about an hour, but I was on 3 tablets a day so I've never have managed to have tea if I'd waited for so long between each one!) Other than that, I have no issues with drinking so much tea. Tea is amazing. |

Cutting down? Why would you want to do a crazy thing like that?!
I love tea and don't have any trouble with the caffeine (i've just made another cup actually). I have recently cut down on the sugar in my tea (only at work) after my dentist 'told me off', but it just doesn't taste as nice There's nothing better than a nice strong sweet cup of tea

I drink 5 cups of normal tea a day during the week but oddly tend not to drink any at the weekends?? I don't think that is too excessive though and have no trouble sleeping etc...
I always have a camomile tea before bed though!! |

My mum is a total tea-a-holic, adn she started having trouble sleeping (not related to tea, but anyhoo...). She tried having a decaff bag as her last cup at night and noticed a major difference in her sleep!
I tried it and it didn't make any difference whatsoever, and to be fair, mum doesn't even venture to the decaff bags anymore, but there's my tuppence-worth ![]() The best feeling in the world = being away somewhere with rubbish tea and coming back home and making a cup of your own!! Lush!! |

I've often thought I want to live abroad or somewhere remote when I'm older - but one of the things that puts me off is not being able to have a 'proper' cup of tea in the morning!
![]() Nothing else works to get me to wake up. My faves are the twinings ones in a yellow box - and M&S extra strong.

Thank you for reminding me of that. Pretty pointless me taking my iron tablet with my morning tea, which I did yesterday!
I love tea but mostly drink decaffienated especially at work. Best thing to take them with is orange juice apparently. If I could only ever have one drink again, it would be tea.

Tea is only a problem if the caffeine doesn't agree with you or you're chucking in lots of cream or sugar. Otherwise, enjoy!

I can't drink proper tea and occasionally when my husband makes his I have a sniff of the brew before he drinks it!
![]() I was trying to drink green tea as it has a low enough caffeine level for it not to disagree with me like normal tea does, but since I've been pregnant tea leaves a horrid taste in my mouth. So I've been drinking green tea with ginger (Until it was discontinued due to being just a limited edition), green tea with lemon, and Rooibos with strawberry and vanilla. Really really wish I could drink real tea

Tea is the business. I probably drink way too much though, but I don't care.

Am I the only person on the planet who doesn't like PG? Really can't stand the stuff - and I think it's the most popular brand - but my mum used to say it tasted like sweepings up off the factory floor - and I agree (not that I've tried floor sweepings)
![]() Tetley is nice, at a push Quick Brew or Typhoo..

The only brand of decaff tea I can drink is Sainsburys' Red Label. I think Typhoo make one but it tastes nasty (IMO).

My Mum & Dad are crazy for tea! They must drink at least 8 cups a day - I really don't get how they can drink so much.
I enjoty a nice cuppa - but don't think I could drink that much in a day. |
