Pressed guide and the unit just sat there for several minutes on the receiving information prompt.

However I read at work there had been an EPG line-up change (addition of channel 210) and noted mine had not updated. So after going to standby and switching it back on (easier than to faff around performing a manual update) to let it update itself the guide fully populated as normal after pressing guide.

I know in the early firmware releases it exhibited this behaviour were the guide would just stop at the receiving prompt (when an update to the EPG had occurred but the unit had not been updated) but I thought this had been fixed?

What really bugs me is that this sort of stuff should happen silently in the background and not bug the user unless it has a knock-on effect (i.e. the removal of a channel were you have a program scheduled).

On the other hand...
i was most interested and saw the new channel was CNBC and
i watched 'Squawkbox' for the first time ever..
It certainly gave me an insight into world finance and
how debt orientated 'Take-overs' are on the rise again..
as if nothing of the banking crisis had never happened..
i never knew the background to 'Wickes'... where i regularly buy my DIY stuff..

Mines not updating again and just sits on the receiving information prompt. I know it's because of the EPG updates today and the fact I haven't re-scanned but I think it proves that the bug that Humax fixed has reared its ugly head again.

I'm talking about when you press guide to refresh the 8 day EPG information. It normally takes 30 seconds to update before the picture and sound comes back. Currently mine just hangs for minutes and will not refresh the 8 day EPG. It will be fine when the unit boots tomorrow and re-scans automatically but this was a bug present in the early firmware releases and was fixed but it seems to be broken again

Can you clarify whether you are talking about the re-scan to update the channel line-up or pressing guide to refresh the 8 day EPG?

If it's the bug I think it is, it's fixed by doing a new channel scan and simply not saving the results

Thanks for the tip Graham - in my case the HDR hung on the genre screen, but doing a scan without saving the results restored things to normal and CBNBC on channel 210 was now present
