My partner took out a T-mobile 18 month contract last November in her name for her daughter. Without going into a long story, her daughter no longer lives with her & she is now worried she will abuse the phone contract. There is no way of getting the phone off the daughter so I was wondering whether it was possible to disconnect that simcard & transfer the same contract to another simcard with a different number?

if the phone is in your partners name, and not the daughters, i don't see why not, a lengthy explanation to customer service can't hurt, but phone companies can be very 'red tape' other (extreme) options are to transfer the number by PAC to another provider or (more extreme) report the handset stolen

I'd just report the phone as lost....

they would block the sim and the handset though... not sure if this would be a problem?

think there maybe a £10 admin charge for a replacement sim....... which you could just pop into any tmobile payg phone?

Thanks for the advice. The phone's in my partners name as the daughter is only 15. I'll give her the options & let her make her mind up although I think she'd sooner just block the sim rather than disable the complete phone...although that could be the last resort option.

r mitchell is correct. Get whoever is named on the contract to go into a store with some i.d and ask for a replacement simcard as the current one is lost/unavailable. It will cost £10 and will automatically cut off the existing sim and the contract will be on the new replacement sim.

Thanks to all! My partner has rang T-Mobile & they are sending a new simcard with a new number in the post & paired it up with the existing contract.
