I think university would be the obvious thing. If the writers were to go down this road he could then come back to the Manchester area in a couple of years with a degree and pop into the street from time to time to sue different people He was supposed to study law.

Alternatively, he and Karl go off and get married (yes, I know this has already been mentionned elsewhere, I helped write it !) and then go on a honeymoon world trip, coming back in a couple years.

Then there's the option that he decides that he needs to get more into the gay scene so goes to San Fransisco to learn from a master and experience more of life.

Either way, Corrie have said they are NOT going to kill him off, so there is an up-side to the story.

I think it's most likely that he'll die of AIDs.

Travelling round the world to "find himself" is my guess. If he went to uni they would have to come up with reasons why he didn't come home every holiday. Not that I think either of these things would be an "explosive" exit but explosive usually means death and they've said hes not going to die.
