I'm hoping it's just a blip and these shows aren't beginning to bore me.

I have to say as a huge fan of the show... my interest has wained too in the last few weeks. It may not even be anything to do with this current series, I think like all of these types of shows... its getting a bit jaded. For a start, its like Groundhog day listening to Holly and Phil, same old thing week in week out. I swear Phil uses the same scripts and just changes the names.

I am also a bit bored of fifty something T&D doing their piece every week, and would far prefer to see hot younger pros !!

Series 2 and 3 were the best... it was when the show was at its absolute peak... its slipping down hill for me at the moment.

I understand what you are saying, but I also tend to agree with other posters who say they find this series boring.

I'm not really bored with the show as such, but I definitely find most of the so-called celebs boring. Hayley is spunky, and to my surprise I have really taken to Danniella, but of the others no one bothers me one bit. [I do like Mikey, but not his skating!]

I would add that those who find it boring but still watch it, probably do so in the hopes that "this week will be different"....

It's half way through and I am only half interested.

This series was far too long, the celebs are already exhausted, so we are seeing a decline in what they can achieve; they have never done anything like this before so it takes a hell of a lot to sustain what they are doing
Injuries will ruin this show over the next few weeks I reckon...

I think 14 was two many to start with, the opening show, followed by the girls week, the boys week, that marathon 100 hour all come together show..... They have just tested me a bit and I am a huge DOI fan but i feel a bit over it.

The random celeb panelists.... well. And that includes Emma Bunton.

Inane Hayley is going to be top each week (like Ray last year but less likeable couples below) so it feels like a one horse race. (although I think Mikey will win just for being in Boyzone, especially with the guranteed "for Steo" performance that will happen somewhere in the last five.)

Apart from Daniella and Kieron, I am struggling to see who I am interested in this year, the best are a bit meh. The professionals seem quieter too.

The first time EVER I have not seen a full show was last night

I always watch Being Human and turn over to catch what I can of the results, I actually forgot until this morning when I saw on the main page Sharron had gone.

I haven't watched for two weeks and not likely to bother again.

It's ironic. Most people seem to find Gary & Maria boring yet I would be bored without them!

I think you've pretty much summed it up.

As much as I love them, I don't need to see Torvill & Dean dance every week. Even their routines have become very samey. I'd prefer they opened the series and did a farewll performance on the last show. That way what they do remains special as opposed to becoming run of the mill.

I'm also finding the audience increasingly rowdy and annoying. They won't let the judges speak for booing over them. A case in point is Nick trying to explain his relatively low score for Danny last week. Being an experienced ice dancer, I wanted to hear what Nicky had to say, not listen to ignorant morons in the audience drowning him out with boos.

Have to agree the first couple of weeks when there was excellent pro routines was fab the show has definitely nose dived and although I have the greatest respect for Jayne anbd 'Chris I am bored of seeing the same routines skated to different music was a great mistake not involving the pro skaters more

I wouldn't hold your breath about Mikey's improvement...if he has not did it by now, he probably won't. I think he's a lovely guy, but he's got too much on his plate with Boyzone and promo's and stuff to really chuck himself into DOI. I think he thinks it's really good fun (nothing wrong with that) but he doesn't have a hunger to succeed.

Let's face it, lot of people were saying the same things about last series (or even last 2 series) of Strictly ..... do you think it is not so much that the shows are more boring, but that we've seen it all too many times already? It all becomes a bit repetitive; we're no longer wowed by the "big lifts" (and there has been some very good lifts) etc. etc. etc.

Both programs need a face lift, and to drastically reinvent themselves each year so that they come across as something new and fresh. Just a thought?

I'm not. I've given up watching. I'm just lurking around the forums looking at the news without having to put up with the boring tedium that DOI has turned into. There has been precious little skating compared to ads, vts, judges comments, and just plain padding. I have also been finding Jason's comments embarrassing and crass - made worse by him being the judge that gets asked for his comments the most, and the behaviour of the audience has been totally demented.

Yes, my tv has an off button, and it gets used. I don't even bother with the stvPlayer now. I can't express how disappointed I have been with this series, and the producers that have done this to what was such a good show.

Perhaps people post threads like this in the hope that someone in the production team, or someone with a connection with the show, might see it, and the penny might drop as to why their ratings have fallen through the floor this year....

Agree with you there, it's very tedious having so many add breaks and superfluous chat, that's my single biggest gripe with the programme. But I can't give it up!

I would like to see the pros being able to contribute more instead of Chris calling all the shots. Why not put J/C on the judging panel instead of the likes of Jason and Emma.

Let us see what the pros can do with the celebs left to their own devices

I'm really enjoying the show this year.
I was worried that it would all feel a little flat after Ray's brilliance last year, but the good news for me is that there are 4 or 5 people who I really enjoy watching this year. I'm very much liking the fact that I don't know from one week to the next who I'm going to enjoy the most.
I do think though that to some extent you get out of a show what you put in. If you invest the time and emotional energy into getting involved in it, it is much more enjoyable then if you just dip in and out and fast forward through some bits. I do record and fast forward adverts, but apart from that I find I can't get into a show so well if I skip bits, even the bits which seem less interesting.

One of the problems with DOI is (or at least was) also, arguably, it's biggest selling factor - the involvement throughout of two of the biggest names in the history of the sport.

It seems that having based the show around T&D to begin with, itv feel they have no option (and maybe contractually they don't) but to keep them firmly in the limelight.

If possible, I'd also prefer the show to use the pros more - partly, where they have greater if not sole responsibility for their choreography and partly for pro routines during the show.

I think that having Jayne and Chris choreograph every routine (at least basically) is making everything start to look a bit deja vu. Having the pros take more responsibility for their celeb's programme might increase the variety and freshen the show again.

No idea whether it's possible though. The pros might not want that sort of responsibility. However, it still baffles me as to why they are so underused as professionals. DOI has some brilliant performers involved in the show (I know, I've seen something of what they can do live) - why aren't they taking advantage of that?

After Popstar to Operastar I'm recognising the limitations of DOI.

I appreciate the effort and work ethic of both series, but one lifts my spirits and transports me into another world (PtO) - the other (DOI) makes for pleasant weekend viewing.
