Worst: Haeley (I agree with Simon about that performance being a mess) and Ashley.

So far:

Lilly - I really am starting to like this girl. Her voice has got a great tone
Katelyn - She was probably the best so far, but I prefered Lilly's performance. I didnt expect much from her so she surprised me, but at the same time... There's something really unlikeable about her
Janell - Wrong song, but she did alright with it. I think nerves got the best of her
Haeley - Had some good bits.. But had a lot of bad bits too. I think she'll be like this all the time - a mixed bag in each performance
Paige - I really didnt enjoy this, but I got the impression that she could do better. Sadly I think that'll be it for her. No airtime and not a great perfomance should see her out on Thursday
Lacey - I really wanted to like her, but this was just bad. She seems like such a nice girl, and she's been better in the past so I hope she gets another go. She could do really well with the right songs.
Ashley - Really struggled with the song, and was totally rubbish compared to the Leona version. I think she should be ok though, and hopefully she'll be better, because I hated this.

Not overly impressed so far. Only 2 have been good, though I think nerves always make the first show a poor one. Ironically, the girl who I think has the weakest voice has been the best so far, (Katelyn) but I think that all the others will improve if they get to go again.

So far, Paige and Lacey should be really worried. Im worried for Janell too, but I may be scared as a fan more than logically.

I've watched them all on youtube.

1. Crystal Bowersox - Best of the night by a mile, original, distinctive and sang well.

2. Lilly - I love her indie quirkiness, one of my faves, and despite a rough first verse she was very good.

3. Siobhan - Didn't expect to be ranking her so highly but she did a great job, stood out and really showed off her versatility.

4. Didi - One of my faves going into the SFs and she didn't disappoint. I'm not a huge fan of the song but I liker her arrangement of it.

5. Katelyn - Like Siobhan, I didn't expect to rank her so highly but her bluesy take on a beatles song really worked. She could be a contender...

6. Katie - Not sure how she got Pimp Spot but she was alright, she's a bit pageanty, but she'll definitely be through. Could be good.

7. Michelle - Sang well, and given her lack of air time should be alright but she was pretty dull and kind of professional in a bad way.

----- The next 5 I felt were weak-----

8. Janell - I really liked her going into the SFs but this was the wrong song, and she got completely lost in it.

9. Lacey - I liked the song choice, I liked her arrangement, apparently she was awesome in rehearsals as well but screwed up on the night. I want to see her again but after that pitchy mess not sure we will.

10. Paige - Dull, lifeless, not sure what the judges saw there.

11. Haeley - I really like her as a person, and on stage she's great in terms of personality but the vocals were reeeeeeeaaaallly bad.

12. Ashley - No contest the worst. Awkward, off key, Just bad.

01. Didi Benami - Confused that the judges didn't like this. The vocals were spot on, yet they called it boring, which it really wasn't IMO.

02. Michelle Delamor - Has ALOT of potential! She has to move away from the diva type singers though, because she could be REALLY good if she does.

03. Haeley Vaughn - I despised Haeley prior to tonight but I think I'm alone in LOVING this. I think it was fun, the vocals also weren't as bad as what Simon and co made it out to be IMO.

04. Siobhan Magnus - Better than I expected! She's at a disadvantage because nobody knew her, and she didn't really get AMAZING comments so she could well be in trouble. Hope not though, she was great!

05. Crystal Bowersox - It was good! I'm glad she got some work done to her teeth too!

06. Paige Miles - Like Michelle she has ALOT of potential. I really like her as a person too, but didn't like the song.

07. Lilly Scott - Meh I was bored. It was alright, but I just can't really warm to her.

08. Lacey Brown - I didn't think she was that bad! I think she's easily the nicest person in the top 24, yet I think she'll go tomorrow which is sad. Hope she stays because I think she could be really good.

09. Janell Wheeler - Wrong song.

10. Katie Stevens - Boring, not that impressive vocally either.

11. Katelyn Epperly - Didn't think she was that special to be honest. She looked daft too.

12. Ashley Rodriguez - She and Michelle are really similar IMO, except Michelle is a million times better. She looked devestated because she was awful and I felt really bad for her.

I think Ashley and Lacey will leave.

Final rankings for the week. (Plus more rambling about those who went on earlier)

1. Crystal Bowersox
The more I see her, the more I like her. I think she could potentially win this competition, and she'd be a worthy winner. I love her personality, and I really enjoyed tonight's performance. I think she can do better, but it was still great - she made me want more instead of making be feel let down.

2. Lilly Scott
I love the tone of her voice - she's so easy on the ears. She isnt the most powerful vocalist, but she's still really good. One of the standouts tonight, and a potential dark horse in the overall competition.

3. Katelyn Epperly
I think she was really good, which I didnt expect, though to be honest, I really cant remember her performance at all now. I really dont know why, but theres something about her that I dont like. She seems a bit snooty - a bit like she thinks she's to cool to be there.

4. Michelle Delamor
She did a good job of introducing herself to us! She wasnt amazing, but she certainly was amongst the best tonight. I'd like to see more of her, so I hope she impressed people as much as she impressed me.

5. Didi Benami
I really enjoyed her performance, but I think it was a bit of a low-key way to start the finals. She should have done something a bit more in your face to start the season, but I did enjoy the performance for what it was.

6. Siobhan Magnus
She was pretty good. I think she has the most powerful voice of the girls hidden away in her, and she didnt really let it out tonight, but it was by no means bad. I agree with Simon - she could be a real dark horse.

7. Katie Stevens
It wasnt a bad performance, but I find her so boring, and I hate the way she's being pushed so heavily as the winner when she's so bland. She has a good voice, but compared to some of the others she just doesnt interest me. Oh and she's just to stage school "thank you sir thank you maam BIG SMILE" for my liking.

8. Janell Wheeler
She's still one of my favourites, but she didnt do great tonight. Her problem was her song - she picked something that totally didnt suit her and it left her out of her depth. I think if she picks things that suit her more, she'll do well. I think she was the most nervous tonight too - she was visibly shaking like crazy, so if she stays, hopefully her confidence will grow and she can do better. I hope she'll stay around for a while, I love her voice.

9. Haeley Vaughn
I do like the girl, but I think she is one of the weakest of the girls. She's quite frustrating to watch, because in a lot of her performances so far, and in tonights for that matter, she's had awesome parts, but then hits a lot of bum notes too. I think she should have come in a few years and allowed her voice to improve. She's more than safe though

10. Paige Miles
She might as well pack her bags in my opinion. Her performance wasnt terrible, but i didnt enjoy it at all. With a better song I think she could have made a big impact, but she didnt sadly. Her lack of airtime coupled with going on first meant she was facing an uphill battle from the start - I dont think she's done enough tonight.

11. Lacey Brown
My heart really goes out to her because she seems like a real sweetheart, but this was just really bad. It wasnt as bad as I heard it was, but it was a good contedner for worst of the night. Lacey does have a really good voice though, and I think if she stays she's capable of doing great things. I really hope she's back next week, but im not sure that she will be.

12. Ashley Rodriguez
She was never my favourite, but I expected quite a lot from her and she really didnt deliver. The song was far to much for her and wasnt even 1/10000 as good as Leona. Its a shame because I think she's the most marketable of the girls, but she needs to improve pronto. I think she'll survive though, so I hope she does better next week. Again, shes capable of it.

I think based on everything we've seen so far, Paige and Ashley should be going home, but I have a feeling it'll be Paige and Lacey. Ashley isnt out of the woods though, and neither is Janell. I think Michelle and Siobhan may have done enough to make up for their airtime shortage, but i wouldnt be shocked to see either go, even though they deserve to stay.

Not worth ranking the rest - all equally dull and unmemorable. Even the three I bothered ranking just ranged from being just "OK" to being "Good". The judges have said this is the girl's year but the boys could easily turn that around in the next show IMO.

It's alright on youtube for the backing vocals because sound editing has sorted it out. Don't know how long the videos survive on there though.

We've been whinging about it here too. Thought it was the TV at first then went through all the sound settings. I hope they get it sorted for next week. Could barely hear some of them

I forget every year how frustrating the first live shows are. The comments are always the same and the contestants are always trying to find their feet and are generally failing.

When the judges keep saying i've heard this before what they're really saying is they want them to do a really quirky and extreme song - if they're good singers than we'll vote them to win then they can do their own material.

Going into the live shows I really like Lily, Crystal, Didi and Janell.

Janell had a rough night probably due to nerves, I think some softer and acoustic songs could be good. I prefer all of them without the backing music as they seem to get drowned out.
