Red Steel 2
So who's looking forward to this one then? Although I'm not much of a fan of the original game I have high hopes for the sequel. Looks very different, very "borderlands" and really could be quite special.
Check out this video here which shows a complete walkthrough of one of the levels. I can see this being a very fun game!

Me, love the art style and I recently got a wiimotion plus, which is very impressive (playing Tiger Woods 2010 with it feels like real golf). I hear this game requires it for sword fighting
I have to say i'm very impressed with the calibre of Wii games coming out No More Heroes 2 Red Steel 2 Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Metroid Other M Monster Hunter: Tri Capcom Vs Tatsunoko New Zelda Mario Galaxy 2 This 2010 line up so far taking apart 'no good hardcore/adult titles on the wii' argument. |

Well I've been playing this over the weekend on a strictly "try before you buy" basis and am very impressed. Another top game to add to the Wii library. I would class it as the best Wii FPS game going, the contorls are so smooth, it's fantastic. Both the guns and swords have a great feel and you become almost hypnotised in the action.
It runs at a very impressive 60fps and while it's not the greatest looking game on the Wii, it is still very nice indeed. Very 'Borderlands' in it's visual and audio presentation. One thing I will say is that the game is really quite linear and the story is very bare bones but it's really no concern as the main focus (as with so many Wii games) is the gameplay and I think everyone will be satisfying when they get to grips with it. It does take a little while to learn some combos and to get the hang of things. One last thing I will say about it is that lazy/laidback gamers need not apply. This is probably the most energetic Wii game I've played yet, you can play it sitting down but you do swing your arms about for the sword quite a bit and you will find yourself getting quite excited in the intense battles that occur. Good exercise I guess! ![]() Anyway, top game! Definitely gonna pick it up when it hits the shelves. |

Im looking forward to giving it a go mainly because of the motion plus aspect of the game, but not sure when I will get the chance as this month a hefty chunk is going on Road Tax ![]() ![]() . I love the energetic wave your arms about games. (thats why I still play Samba De Amigo) |

Yeah I know I can see that too
![]() But I'm not really a fan of over energetic gaming myself though I do enjoy some table tennis on WiiSports resort and nearly pulled my arm muscle on that once haha. Red Steel 2 does have an option to use a more relaxed pace for swinging but you can't help but get excited in the fights, you want to swing about and it encourages you to take wide swings for powerful swipes. In other words, treat the motion+ as an actual sword. |

Fair enough it's called Red Steel 2, but graphics aside, has it got anything to do with the original? I own the original (which I extremely dislike) and just wondering do I need to complete this one first before I start the 'sequel'?

Finished it last night on normal mode. Very good game in all (with some moments of incredible gameplay) but as I suspected, it was slightly repetitive. Won't say too much else as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.
I haven't seen one review for it yet so it will be interesting to see what it gets but I'd give it an 8/10 overall. At points the gameplay is 10/10 material, I can't fault it at all. It plays like a dream but the game design lets it down a bit, it's kind of a 'one trick pony' in this sense. It shows massive potential for the series to develop into a great set of games though and it improves on the original tenfold (which I also disliked). I reckon this is the first true example which shows the motion+ as the amazing bit of kit it is and proves that playing FPS games on dual sticks is so last decade. But it's a must play and a good game to have in your collection.

Picked this up this morning and it kinda pretty good.
The sword action left me slightly dissapointed at first as its not as fluid like Wii Sports Resort, but im past that now and its all come together and feels very good indeed. No time to stop and chat as I need to get back for some shoot and slash

Yeah, once you get into it you can't help but love the gameplay. It's get so much better the more you power up, so you want to buy as many hidden moves as you can afford.
I went back to this a few days a ago and got hooked all over again, good game. |

How long do you think it will be before the pre order code appears online so we can also unlock the goodies?

I though you get codes with the game that you can use straight away? Someone else on another forum was saying that anyhoo.
Also just a little tip but I also set in the options the swing rate to "relaxed" an the aiming to "precise" which I found made it feel a whole lot better. |

What do you think to it then? I find it gets better the more you play and the more moves you unlock. Don't suppose you've found any more codes have you? I did try and enter some and they were accepted but I'm unsure where to use the new weapons as I don't see an option for it.

Im enjoying it very much so far although I havent been able to play it today.
The Tataro 357 Magnum code is 370402 . The Special Pre Order code weapons just replace your defalt weapons before the codes were added. I cant put my finger on it, but for some reason when I think about this game I also think of Madworld. |

Cheers, I entered the codes but can't say I noted any difference to the look of my weapons heh. Glad you're enjoying it though.
I dunno if you've unlocked "the dragon" move yet but it's really good and ads a lot of fun to the combat. |

Just finished the game which is cool as I've just taken my time and play every now and then, but I must say I'm slightly disappointed with the ending of this awesome game.

It really is utterly superb too, the best motion controls I've used, so responsive and smoooth with some innovative gameplay, even though it is a bit of a one trick pony (lacks variety). It's still an awesome game and one I like to go back and complete every now and then, when I start playing it I'm glued to the screen!

Played a bit of it now, couple of hours, and yes it's very compelling! Bit harsh on the arm swinging (I nearly wiped the young 'uns DS out!), but terrific fun and I love the setting. It's very pretty too, a real looker on the Wii.
It's better than the first one, but I will admit to enjoying the first one quite a bit, flaws and all. |
