Silly pedantic me - of course, I meant Brian Wilson, and not his younger brother Bran!

Well, I missed your original post so on this occasion your pedantry has totally sorted me out. Cheers!

I bet if I never brought it to light, no-one would have noticed anyway!

But being ridiculously OCD, I had to correct it.

wouldn't it be nice and good vibrations will always be the epitome of classic, great pop songs.

Don't know much about them. But Good Vibrations was the first song that sprang to mind.

"I Get Around" and "Barbara Ann", i enjoy their doo wop/barbershop style stuff most.

I have to go with....

Good Vibrations
Surf's Up
Sail On Sailor
Feel Flows

And if you know anyone who thinks of The Beach Boys for tracks like "Surfin' USA", then play them "Mrs O'Leary's cow" from the SMiLE album.

CD's and digital downloads saw the death of the great B Sides. Would'nt It Be Nice was originally a B Side before Pet Sounds came out.

God only Knows is one my favourite Beach Boys songs, and I also loved In My Room.

The Beach Boys were a very underated band in the 60's and only had the 2 no ones.

There are so many tracks but amongst my favs

Do it Again
Caroline No
God Only Knows
Disney Girls
Sail On Sailor (a gem during a not so great time for the BB's)
Sloop John B
Heroes And Villians
Darlin'
Student Demonstration Time (re-working of Riot In Cell Block No 9)

Always had a soft spot for Cotton Fields

and a off the wall vote for Kokomo

There is really only one Beach Boys hit I don't like and thats Lady Lynda.

I was lucky enough to see Brian and his backing band do SMiLE in 2004 - it is without a doubt the greatest gig I have ever been to - and there are hundreds including nearly all the top acts from the 1970's.

The whole thing was spellbinding starting with a few songs in just a small acoustic/unplugged session, then some hits and solo stuff (inc Love And Mercy). After a short break the whole of SMiLE (complete with fireman helmets) and then a great rocking finale of what seemed every Beach Boys hit from 1963 to 1967. The Wondermints and The Stockholm Strings were just fantastic as a backing unit and the Sound was absolutely spot on (not many gigs I can say that about).

I was buzzing for about 6 months after that.

I regret not going to see the 'SMiLE' show. I went to the earlier 'Pet Sounds' concert which was an amazing night.

Just remembered another later single that I love which is 'Breakaway'. It's such a deceptively simple song but very clever how they mix up the harmonies on the choruses. They never sing it the same way twice.

Another great later song is 'The Night Was So Young'. A great Brian ballad with a very soulful chorus.

Nobody has mentioned 'In My Room', 'Surfer Girl' or 'Dont Go Near The Water'.

So I just did.

I defy anyone to listen to Barbara Ann without a spring in their step.

Although Good Vibrations is a masterpiece, I prefer one Beach Boys song, namely Do It Again

So many good ones.

Warmth Of The Sun
Til I Die
Surf's Up
With Me Tonight
Caroline No
I'm So Young
Kiss Me Baby
Girl Don't Tell Me
I'll Bet He's Nice
The Night Was So Young
Hold On Brother
Baby Blue

Carl's 'Heaven' is a favourite too, all of Dennis' Pacific Ocean Blue stuff, Brian's recent work. One of the all time great groups.

I could go on all night. They have at least 75-100 solid gold classics in my book.

I think "Little Girl I once knew" is an overlooked gem of a song.

I know the later albums are more respected but I am more likely to reach for Surfer girl, Shut Down Volume 2 and All Summer Long over Pet Sounds and Today even though I agree they are better albums. There is just something about their early stuff which I love.

My favourite Beach Boy songs always change from time to time but I think that fundamentally they are

1) Don't Worry Baby
2) I Get Around
3) The Little Girl I Once Knew
4) Wouldn't It Be Nice
5) Hawaii

I love most of their songs really and apart from the other better known songs which have been put forward I will give special mention to In the Parkin lot, Farmer's Daughter, Surfer Moon, Hushabye, We'll Run Away, Good To My Baby and Don't Hurt My Little Sister. All songs I listen to a few times each when I go on a Beach Boys session.

I love all the usual BB favourites, but the one track I played most in my younger days was Kiss Me Baby, I thought the backing vocals and harmonies were so sublime, wonderful.
