Mikey = Chris Hollins?
Mamaboogie

Hi!

My daughter and I were watching this week's show when my daughter pointed out that Mikey reminded her of Little Chris Hobbit from SCD.

He started out very strong, but seems to have gone backwards since the first couple of weeks. He is likeable - a great character and has a great partnership with Mel.

We hope in our house that he will also make a Hollins-like improvement over the next few weeks!

I actually enjoyed his Johnny Cash number - about the only time I disagreed with the great Angela Rippon on Sunday!

I can see where you are coming from, but I find Mikey nowhere near as irritating than Chris-Babe and Ola-Chops!! In fact, I think he - Mikey - seems a really genuinely nice person.

There was one week when I thought Mikey was very like Chris. (For some reason, I was attacked relentlessly for that opinion.)

He's seemed much less like Chris in subsequent weeks, but I still find him irritating, smug, and very hard to like.

I don't know, Mamaboogie, for someone who liked Chris and doesn't mind Mikey (actually I like him as well, but don't think he can win this year)... they don't seem to have the same personality. Mikey and Mel don't seem to be so outgoing as Chris and Ola, and seem more restrained.

I think you have a point about his progress in the competition though; brilliant to start with, but not quite able to get back to his best form in the last two weeks). He had a lot of sad things to deal with during the last two weeks, so maybe he will be back on track (although he is sick this week).

Yeah - sorry. Didn't really make myself clear.

I wasn't really saying he was LIKE him - as in alike, the same. (Although he seems to be popular with the public like Chris was) More about his (dare I say it) 'journey'

Just how he's got stuck in a rut after a promising start. Hopefully there'll be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Do you think that is because the pros in DOI don`t get the same amount of exposure as the SCD ones?

Could be! Don't get me wrong, I would like to know more about the pros on DOI, but I wouldn't want it to be all about the pros either (in SCD some pros seem to think the show is about them).

I don't know much about Boyzone, but I don't think Mikey was the most outgoing one of the lot, although he seems a genuinely nice guy on DOI (and in other things I have seen him).

I don't think Mikey's performances or character resemble Chris Hollins, but his progress does a bit.

He's not really making much improvement

Mikey is nowhere near as smarmy as Hollins plus he doesn't have a team of Beeb presenters bigging him up every morning.

I see what you mean but I haven't seen the improvement in Mikey that I did Chris yet.

Also I see Hayley as a bit like Ricky Whittle. A talented contestant who some people have trouble warning to.

Which is a huge plus point for Mikey in my eyes.

I didn't dislike Chris but never got the Cola Love.

I love Mikey & Mel and think they have a great partnership. I really enjoy watching them every week. Unlike the Cola fans unless Mikey improves I don't think I will vote for him towards the end of the series though.

I like Mikey but I think he's a less strong performer than Chris was, and while I'd like him to stay a bit longer in the competition I'd be disappointed if he got to the final, let alone won it (unless he suddenly makes a huuuge improvement, that is).

I find Mikey far more likable and far less irritating than Chris Hollins. He seems to have lost his way a bit in recent weeks, but I hope he has a resurgence.

Of course, although I was a huge Chris supporter.

I don't find Mikey all that entertaining. His routines are boring imho (not his fault I know but still....). He is also still very wobbly.

I was indifferent to Chris, but I really like Mikey.
