I really hope it's the dire straits one, love that song!

I like Kieron but hope they don't over-egg the Axel on the VT and try to big it up and compare it to what Chris attempted the other year (and he landed it 2 footed). I am not saying a half Axel isn't impressive because it is for a novice skater but it's not as impressive as a full Axel, which would be fantastic.

Unless I'm missing something but it won't be the Taylor Swift's Romeo and Juliet which is called Lovestory because that's already been skated to this series by Emily in Week 1.

I get the impression that he's meaning it'll be something from the Romeo and Juliet movie, as its Oscar week. (Presumably the Baz Luhrmann / Leo DiCaprio one, unless there's a more recent version?). Can't really think what it would be off that though...

If it's from Luhrmann's R&J, the best bet would be Kissing You (also used by Ricky Whittle in last year's Strictly).

That is not what Sharron said.

She was responding to the accusations that she was trying to find an easier or safer option by doing the slower routine, and said:
Quote:
“In amongst all this misrepresentation, there seemed to be some kind of inference that a slower number was taking an easy way out. Is that to say all slower pieces are easier? If so then Pav and I had the hardest routine on Valentine's Day...which of course is not true! Personally I think slower numbers give you nowhere to hide and are far easier to pick apart.”

Re St Valentine's Day, she said elsewhere in the blog entry " fast routine for the Valentine's Day show (one of the few that night who did)". Hence the "which of course it not true" is saying it's of course not true that being faster made it harder.

So she is not saying faster routines are harder or slower ones easier. Given her physical limitations, a faster routine was more difficult for her that week, but that is one particular and unusual case -- not a general claim that faster routines are more challenging.

Thanks. Given Ricky and Kieron are friends, I imagine that'll be the one!

I agree. I hope everyone gets their info right on the night! To be attempting jumps other than three-jumps at their level of skating is impressive (by level I mean considering the amount of time they've been skating for!), but naturally you'd hope for the better skaters to be attempting some trickier ones.
The landing of Chris' axel was 2 footed and half a rotation short, therefore Robin was spot on when deducting marks. I hope the judges give credit for good jumps, but mark down if done incorrectly.

So Chris really ended up doing a half-axel then, if it was half a rotation short? It's always kind of confused me what happened with that. The landing was definitely on two feet though. It was still all very impressive despite that though, to be fair to him!

Oh of course, to even be attempting an axel after such a short time figure skating is very impressive. And all credit to him for nearly getting it. I think he's done a full axel since on tour and the like, sometimes jumps just take time to learn and get right (took me ages to nail a salchow!). He and Kyran have really carried on since the show and are landing some good jumps now. It's nice to see!

You are aware that I wasn't entirely serious and joking right, and I'm sure the person it was directed to did understand my intention. I did use appropriate smilies, and I think it would be very difficult to willfully misunderstand what I said (so well done for the effort; to make sure - I'm being sarcastic now).

And in case you are thinking I'm misrepresenting Sharron, firstly, I really like her and I happen to agree that a slow routine can be as difficult as a fast one (and that's how I interpreted what she said), and secondly, it was meant as a lighthearted joke (again!).

Went to see Holiday on Ice in Birmingham this afternoon and Kyran landed his Axel.

They showed us a clip on DOI Friday and that's not what they're doing. Fortunately for Frankie!

I'd be highly shocked if any celeb did that move...I think it's safer we leave it to Fred & Mel!

I was in the studio the night that Chris attempted the axel. He'd already done the required element with style, I just think he thought he'd try the axel to add excitement to the routine and very nearly succeded, the audience certainly appreciated his effort.

Any chance it's the Wannadies 'You and Me Song'? That strikes me as a very T&D choice, and it's fast, which would provide a nice contrast to this week's slowie for Kieron.

That's a totally brilliant song - I'd definitely love it if that was it! You can imagine a great fast routine to it. Was it actually in the R+J soundtrack though??? So long since I've actually seen that movie.

(Assuming Kieron makes it to next week obviously... )
