Breakeven by The Script is suddenly a hit in the US

I was just curious to know how all of the sudden The Script now have a top 40 hit with Breakeven?

I adore that song and personally think it is better then The Man who can't be moved, but i was curious to know how come all of the sudden it's doing well over there.

Was it in a film recently? I'm nearly sure it was used on something i've seen recently

John Mayer was droning on about how good they, and specifically Break Even, are on his Twitter a few weeks ago and he has 3 million followers. Maybe partly down to that? I think they're touring with him now too.

They've just done a stint opening for David Cook, which would have helped - got a fair amount of buzz from that.

They spend a fair bit of time in the US. Maybe that's why.

Aww interesting

Would like to see how script are an emabrassment to the irish? They have had no scandal. Succcessful singles and a debut album. And have just got a hit in America. I don't know of any irish acts to have cracked America with a top 40 single.

I think you're over analysing it to be honest. The Script have done very well over here and in Ireland over the past few years. The label has now capitalised on the success by releasing the single for them over there as the first single. Americans love the song and have requested it on the radio and downloaded it. I am not sure what you mean by all of a sudden doing well? I think the lead singer has an incredible voice. As soon as I heard Breakeven, I knew it would do well in the States eventually.

Maybe the label has just started pushing their album over there after winding down promotion in UK/Europe? Not sure, but I love the song anyway.

How am i overanalysing? I was asking a perfectly straight forward question. How about you don't patronise what people have to say?

Calm down. I just thought it was strange the way you asked why Breakeven was a hit? It's a great song and very radio friendly. Why is Taio Cruz number 1 in America right now? Why the Black Eyed Peas number 1 in America for months last year? People like them.
