I accidentally pulled the power cable out of it's socket, now when I put the power cable back in nothing happens. I get no lights of any colour and the fan isn't working either. I can hear a very faint ticking or knocking sound.
Any ideas as to what the problem is ?
I've never had any problems with this box before.
Thanks.

Sounds like your psu is kaput. I had mine repaired by a man in NE England £25, received by return of post.
Check whether any capacitors on the psu are bulging - it's only slight, but it's a real giveaway.

I've checked the capacitors and they look fine. I have disconnected the HD from my box and the box powers up and I am able to view the channels. If I reconnect the HD to the box nothing will power up. I have connected the HD to my PC and the HD powers up. My PC recognises the HD but I cannot access the drive (I assume it's because it's not in MS Windows format)

That does sound as though your psu is not passing sufficient power to your hdd. Have you checked the hdd voltages from the psu?

Had a similiar problem awhile back with 1 of my boxes, this was after a power cut.
Also heard a faint ticking sound comming from the hard drive, but not powering up.
Checked the caps, they were ok and i also though the box was dead.
Left the box unplugged from the mains for about a day, reapplied the power cord, plugged into the mains , and HEY PRESTO!!!!!!!!!! the box fired up again.

I have had my box unplugged for a number of days now and I've just plugged in back in and I still have the same problem. How do I check the HD voltage from the psu ? Also what's the psu ? Sorry.... I'm a complete plank when it comes to these things !
Is there anywhere I could take this unit to be repaired ?

I have however purchased a reconditioned unit. It has software versions 5.08 (current) and 4.09. Is there a way of loading version 2.99 onto the unit ? I like to have a "Favorites" menu option. Does anyone have any news about this menu being re-introduced in a future update ?
Thanks.

had the same problem several times. but found out this...if the unit is dead apart from a slight clicking noise try...pressing on off button repeatedly about 8 or 9 times then press arrow up arrow down then arrow right and left ..wait awhile and red light should come on briefly if not repeat and leave a few hrs it does work just keep trying before you fork out..its worked for me a few times..good luck

Had the same problem, no lights just ticking, left it plugged in for about 10 minutes and it started to boot up fine on its own

I had the problem when i took my box up to my caravan and when I got back to my house it wouldn't boot up just clicking and I just re-booted a few times along with hitting the on/off button until it came to life. Don't think it liked being switched off away from power.
