HELP! new nokia 6230 crashing

Hi,

Just got a new 6230 on o2 and have been playing with it all night. However just tried to enter the gprs settings and each and everytime i select the option to edit the active settings the phone crashes to a blank screen. i can get it going again by pressing the centre of the direction button. I tried having the settings sent by text but still not joy and still crashing. As the phone is so new i havent installed any apps just transfered some mp3s. i was wondering if the code *#7370# would help? Im not worried about loosing my phone book or anything as i have only just started adding numbers. I was wondering what happens to the pre installed apps like games and currency converter etc? will these be restored or will i loose them?

any help much appreciated

Sounds like a firmware bug. Take it to a Nokia shop(but copy all the contacts to SIM and send the games to your computer so you dont lose them.) they may need to flash the phone, in which case you will lose everything.

Check out the eXpansys UK Nokia 6230 Technical Support Forum for problems with the 6230. Lots of useful info there.

Oops, sounds like O2 released the phone without testiing it properly. Vodafone were due to release this earlier this month, then it was put back to 23rd, and now due for 30th. We are aware of software issues with this handset, hence it not yet being available. It looks like it will be ready for 30th though.

People have a go at Vodafone for releasing handsets late, but at least they test them properly before release to prevent thousands of returns.

oops - further problems with the 6230 now, and the handset release by Vodafone is now "early May"

Oops - I got mine when it first came out in Finland in April and apart from a few minor bugs (like having to name the memory card before I could see it from my PC and resetting the phone before the caller groups work) I am very happy with the phone.

I might get it flashed to iron out the bugs in a few months when Nokia have release a newer version of their firmware but I'm certainly in no rush.

Thanks for the help.I took the phone back to the link where the guy had to exchange it for another. I think the actual phone must have been faulty as the new one has the same firmware but works perfectly. Very happy now!
