Samsung Genio Touch/Slide
Hey,
My girlfriend really fancies a Samsung Genio Slide for her birthday. We've had a play with a real one in a Vodafone shop but whenever we asked questions about it, his standard response was "I don't know". Hopefully you lot can help me out. She likes the idea of the interchangeable back covers. You get two in the box, black and white, but she likes all the colours that the Genio Touch comes with (yellow, pink etc.). The Vodafone guy said that they don't sell the covers, and doesn't know who does. He also said that the ones that go on the Slide are slightly different to the ones on the Touch so you can't just buy Touch ones. The Slide doesn't seem to be listed on the Samsung.co.uk website so I can't even check for accessories there. So, does anyone know where you can buy the covers from, how much they are, whether the Slide and Touch use the same ones? Also, as a budget touch screen phone, how does it stack up? There seem to be quite a lot of good reviews online but I'm more interested in real people's views, rather than professional mobile phone testers/journalists opinion. How responsive is the screen? Can you pick whether you want to be entirely touch screen or entirely QWERTY? Do some things have to be done with one or the other? What is battery life like? Thanks |

But are the Genio Slide covers the same as the Genio Touch covers?

No, the back covers are different. The Genio Slide's back cover has a groove to go around the 3.5MM jack on the top of the phone.
The Genio touch also has it's volume buttons on the side of the phone with the back cover having space to fit around them. The volume buttons on the Genio Slide do not go as far back as going into the back cover. |

After my experience with the Samsung Tocco, I would NEVER buy a touch screen phone by Samsung again. So I personally would avoid it.

The Samsung Browser is terrible, try something like Opera Mini (m.opera.com to download, www.operamini.com for instructions) or Bolt (www.boltbrowser.com).
