Are the Ad breaks getting more frequent?
There seems to be a hell of a lot more ad breaks and I'm sure they are lasting longer!

They're really spoiling the show.
We never had this many in the past. 7 couples could have been squeezed into an hour easily without stopping for so many annoying breaks. |

Yeah they are.
I'm not sure exactly, but I think Ofcom relaxed the rules slightly regarding advertising breaks, and ITV take advantage of it. Which is greatly annoying! |

I think I might record it next week and watch it in the hour break before the skate off!

Deffo are. They did the same with X Factor this year. It seems there are now more ads than programme!

I should have timed the ad breaks to see how much of the programme they encroach on....or is that really sad

Its the same with the likes of Most Haunted, you get into it then a pointless AD break comes along.

I don't know about them becoming more frequent, but there's definitely more padding in the show between ad breaks. Hayley, for one, got a whole segment to herself between breaks, as did Danny (I think).

Ive noticed that. Sky plus, has them at over 5 minutes
![]() If it wasnt for the magic of sky plus, i wouldnt bother. ITV are getting ridiculous with ads now. They still turn the volume up on ads too, after recently beeing told not too.

ITV still have some pretty solid restrictions - average 8 mins per hour, no more than 12 minutes per hour - and they are restricted to a set number, e.g. 1 hour programmes may only take 3 breaks.
The only thing that has really changed in the last 10 years is that they now have no restriction on the length of the individual ad break. So one can last 5 minutes, but the actual adverts (not in-channel advertising or sponsorship) cannot amount to more than 12 minutes per hour and even then ITV have to put less adverts on in other hours in order to average at 8 minutes. So, in short, Dancing on Ice has probably always had 12 minutes of advertising in it per hour and probably still does. Either the programme content is getting weaker, making the adverts harder to deal with, or ITV are placing the adverts in a way that make it seem like there are more now. |

They're definitely more frequent. I'm sure the show is an hour long - the ad breaks meke it twice that!
But the ident itself (the flippin toothpaste) is absolutely nauseating. Once or twice is okay, but with the frequent ad breaks and that ident at the start and end of every one - I tend to reach for the remote whenever the little signal appears in the top left hand corner and either mute and look away or try to change channels completely! |

I actually thought there were few adverts in yesterday's show - usually after T&D's opening routine there's a break, but we didnt have one for nearly 20mins into the show..
