They're just not as good as in series 2,3 and 4. The standard is like that of series 1.

Only Hayley has that extra something special in her performances that would warrant a 6.0 in my opinion (once she increases the difficulty level of the skating itself).

You almost forget she's skating and instead see two people expressing a piece of music through dance and doing so in unison.

Gary might be the better skater, but he lacks that sparkle in the musical interpretation and in that connection with his partner and the audience.

I think Daniella could, something about her reminds me of Suzanne Shaw.

Daniella is quite like suzanne in personality but she needs to up the skating quite a bit still. Suzanne was getting 27.5 at this point (and that's counting the week behind). I think Hayley is the only one who can get a 6 at this rate although she still wont win. As someone said this is a lot like series one and Hayley is very like Bonnie...

Series one was alright and it was new so it was exciting.
Series two was great as we had two really good competitors and it was an interesting contest.
Series three was DOI at it's peak I think, you had two brilliant competitors and a fascinating contest.
Series four had an exceptional skater but there was no competition.
This year everyone left is decent but there's no body who is particularly great. Gary is a good skater but has no performance, hayley has performance but is quite a basic skater, Daniella has the most promise to be the best all rounder but she needs to up it still.

Daniella disappointed tonight - she stumbled even when the couples were being introduced.

I didn't like her much initially, but I have found myself warming to her - pity she had to make so much fuss over the knees; especially considering the flak Sharron attracted over her more serious and long term injury.

Don't think she'll ever emulate Suzanne.

Are you serious?

Hayley spent far more time out of hold this week than Daniella.

Daniella does show promise - but this week she didn't really portray it.

I mean she's the Bonnie of the series! In personality, in performance, in dividing opinion and in whether her skating ability is up to the marks she gets... she's the Bonnie of the series that way...
I think Daniella will make the final. She's a victim of a "she's safe" mentality tonight...

I don't know. She really messed up tonight, and her skate off was really not very good. , I even missed her jump the first time around (they also did not replay the jump or concentrate on it - a bit unfair considering that other people like Kieron did much more difficult jumps).

Daniella only spent time out of hold when she did her jump.

I think Hayley may get 6's later in the series just to hype things up.

Have to say that I think that this series the standard is probably the weakest since the 1st series.

Hayley & Daniella are the best but they are not a patch on Suzanne or Clare. Also thought when Gary was skating that his routine would really have suited the likes of Kyran and Chris and they would have given a wow performance with brilliant skating. Gary isn't fit to lace their boots.

I think they'll have to give somebody some 6s anyway to increase excitement. Unfortuneatly I doubt the routine will have to be of the same standard as previous years to get them, I think they'll start giving them. Marks for some fairly average routines this year have already been too high by comparision to previous years, but anyway, they have to give someone this series high scores i suppose and it is against eachother not previous years, but i still think some have been too high...

I agree completely regards the standard. As I've said in another thread nobody is anyway near the big five (Ray, Suzanne, Kyran, Chris and Clare) by a long way... But then I dont think anyone from now on will be really, and even if they are similiar to any of them (cos all of the 5 are very different) they'll be the second ones to do stuff so it doesnt have the same affect. I think those 5 reached the limit of what a celebrity skater can do really...

I think Hayley is due for a round of 5.5's before she gets any 6's. But she will get them...

As for the people saying she is the 'Bonnie' of this series....are you having a laugh? Did you watch the show last night? The amount of solo skating Hayley did was incredible, and she did it really well (you also must have missed Robins comments on this..) If anyone is the 'Bonnie' of the series it's Daniella...who did absolutely NO solo skating at all...except her jump!! Maybe why she was in the skate off...

It's a bit of a poor show if nobody gets a 6.0 as in the last two years they've had two sets of perfect scores, plus Clare Buckfield, who was only a mark off a perfect score.

Hefty overmarking will probably come into force in the final, at least for those contestants whose previous performances have justified them perhaps getting a 6.0. If Hayley and Danniella get to the final I imagine they'll receive their share of 6.0s, fair or not.

Yes. They won't let a series go by without any 6s. Hayley will get 6s before the final - possibly next week if she is good by her own standards.

So was Kyran Bracken, he 29.5 for Billie Jean.

I agree this year has been bland and boring. I never saw series one, but I can imagine how alike the two are with people's comments.

Series 2 and 3 were fantastic. Chris vs Suzanne were the highlights with their amazing skill and interesting routines. Even though the others weren't as good they still gave great and varied performances. Something I feel lacking in this series.

Think I'll go watch some old routines of past series when I get home

I think Hayleys due a 6.0, however I agree with a large part of this thread in that this isnt the strongest year.

Last year too be fair was one sided as Ray was just soo good, but the years before that it's been more of a contest/

My favourite was when Suzanne beat Chris in the final, she just nailed it on finals night.

This years pretty bland really, i would say at the moment it's between Hayley, Danielle, Gary and Danny!

Hayley has consistently been number 1 and she is deserving of the top spot, however (and she has admitted this herself), the pressure of being top is getting to her, the thing that irritates me about her is her skating partner.

Danielle is a fine skater, and could do a Suzanne Shaw, whilst Gary and Danny continue to improve.

I will say that as bland as this year is, its certainly a very close contest, and who wins come finals night is a huge mystery too me!

Next out Keiran or Mikey i think!
