Did you want to hug Karen or slap her on the Skate Off?

She works very closely <far closer than T & D> for months on end with them so must get pretty attached to them.

I have no problem with someone showing a soft side to them

I really like Karen. I thought she took so much time with Danny and as she works so closely with the contestants she must get very attached. When Emily left I felt like crying too - the wrong person went tonight - it should have been Mikey. I am sorry he was injured but I think he has reached his potential whereas Emily had so much more to give. What a shame.

I don't mind Karen but this crying at elimination every year is just  We all know that someone must be voted out each week, she must be used to it by now!

I thought it was great what she achieved with Danny,he presented the moves so much better tonight than previous performances,so when she has that much input,it must be hard to watch your 'children' leave.I would certainly have given her a pat on the shoulder
Yes,I too think it's a shame about Emily.I always thought she looked cute on the ice but the last couple of weeks she has also started to look comfortable and competent and I agree, maybe likeable Mikey peaked early and will struggle to up his game.

Karen really seems to care about the participants (both professional and amateur) and works at building up their self-esteem not knocking it like Jason.

She seems like a really nice person.

She doesn't. It's the first time she's done that since series 3. She stopped crying at eliminations when her seat was changed (previously she used to sit next to Robin, where Emma now sits) and she was no longer making the deciding vote if the previous judges had voted 2:1.

I didn't watch some of the earlier series (shame on me!) - used Karen cry a lot then?

Sorry, but I wanted to slap her! It wasn't as if one of the better skaters was getting eliminated.

Yeh, she used to cry almost every week if I remember right ! She's been very strong this series up until now.

I don't know, I can understand that she works closely with them and would be upset, and also I really loved what she did with Danny, but I'd be more inclined to slap her ! I always find it a bit annoying when judges cry on these shows. Sorry.

That's true, but then there's no reason to assume she would like the better skaters more than the poorer skaters.

Emily had been poor before but last night she put on a very good perfomance and certainly did not deserve to be in the skate off. Most of the judges gave her good marks except Jason and I have no idea what he was watching, He is very eratic sometimes his comments are fair if rather blunt othertimes he is totaly wronmg. He seems to have people he just does not like and no matter how well they do will mrk them low

Why would anybody want to slap Karen? She's a lovely warm person, not some cold fish.

Well I think the answer to that was that he wasn't watching - at least not properly. He'd pre-judged her performance and saw what he wanted to see.

Why is Karen a judge when she is also the celeb contestants coach? It does not make sense. She can be one thing or the other. No wonder she gets upset when she has to vote one of them off the show as she must have developed a close relationship with the contestants but that is not a good basis for her being a judge. Surely she should see the routine for the first time with the panel.

Perhaps it might be because she and Jason balance each other out?

Tend to agree. She's too 'close' to the whole thing. It's a bit like Jayne or Chris judging.
