Different types of SIM cards?
I've just brought two Virgin Nokia 1661's. I put in my existing VM SIM cards but the new phones won't read them, you just get the "insert SIM card" message.
But when I looked at the SIM cards that were supplied with the new phones, they look different. The chip is smaller and oblong shaped, are there different types? |

There are different types of SIM, however they are generally interchangeable.
Some old phones are not compatible with a 3G USIM and very very occasionally a particular model phone will not work with SIM cards from a particular network without a firmware upgrade. This obviously isn't the case with your situation, so the most likely explanation is that the cards are incorrectly inserted. |
