And if anyone doesn't like it that Mikey's going through, then that's just the way that is too. It's also not new and isn't going to stop.

People are free to be disgruntled that someone they don't especially like has gone through whilst their favourite has gone out.

But this argument that only the better skater/dancer should progress each week just doesn't have any merit. The better dancing/skating is already credited by the leader board points. The rest is up to us. The audience can vote based on whatever criteria they like. It's the way it has always been and the way it will always be. To complain about it means you (not you personally) haven't grasped the concept of the show.

But you told me in another thread that you enjoyed coleen's performances last year? She was very similar to a Camel (although a Camel might have been better). I wonder how you would have felt if Hayley had left because someone like Coleen staid in (I'm really curious, as you seem to be making a case for Hayley based on talent, but you seem to think that Coleen was really good as well).

Anyway, I think people supporting Mikey might do so for different reasons. I still don't think that he was the weakest skater on overall potential. On a good day, Mikey would be much better than Emily (as was Danny and this week he really showed us what he could do). If Mikey is still rubbish next week, and he gets through, then we have a reason to fear that his popularity gets him through at the expense of much better skaters.

However, I still maintain (and I did so with coleen - yuk), people are entitled to vote for the person that they want to see.

I agree with you, and I think you made the point much better than me. My worst nightmare last year was Coleen and Todd going through to the semi-final (I think I would have stopped watching), but I do understand that the public might have different ideas and like different people.

Ok - I was using Coleen as a really bad example, mainly to just stress how bad I thought Mikey was on Sunday. I was never a Coleen fan, I thought she was horrendous, and defo did not deserve to go as far as she did in the competition....but this year, I feel this now about Mikey. That is my point (sorry...I did say silly stuff in my previous post that I now take back...Coleen was rotten!)


In my opinion, I just think that the best in the competition deserves to win the show. However, very very few people on here agree with me...and they are perfectly entitled to, that's just my personal thoughts.

P.S If Hayley left the contest at the expense of Coleen....World War 3 would begin!!

I think if people believe that skaters like Colleen and Mikey deserve to get to the final purely because of their popularity etc, then that's fine.

I just think it's a real pity where people other skaters who have real skill and personality on the ice, and who have made big improvements on the show, are knocked out by people who are basically rubbish, and barely progressing at all. But that's just an opinion. I know there are lots who love people like Mikey and Colleen on Dancing on Ice, and will always vote in their droves for them.

Well, Mikey was good in the first few weeks, I liked his first routine, I did like the routines to Cecilia and Ring of Fire as well.

However I think that some of the judges are overscoring him. I particular Jason. I was surprised when Jason gave Mikey a 4.5 in week 4! I can only assume that this is due to Jason being a friend of Stephen Gately as well, so he might judge in favour of Mikey due to sympathy to a certain extend.

Has anyone noticed that Mikey was the first celebrity from this series to be confirmed for the DOI tour? I do think they (= the show producers) are keen to keep him in. That might be why he gets really good VT's.

I have voted for Mikey so far, and I do forgive him the rubbish routine last Sunday, as I understand it was due to the injury. Some of the judges were commenting how he is always so great in rehearsals, I really hope he will improve for next Sunday. If it wasn't for the injury then I really would have loved to see Mikey in the skate off, only to do the routine again without mistakes.

I do think Mikey really needs to show a better routine next Sunday in order to stay in. I would really like to see some big lifts from him. And if he is that bad again without the excuse of an injury I won't vote for him again. (And I am a Boyzone fan)

I do think that Emily was overall a worse skater than Mikey, but I think that the skaters that are left in the competition are either better or on the same level than Mikey. So, he really needs to up his game.

As for Daniella being in the skate off: She had a very bad week unfortunately. She is one of my fave skaters though and I hope she will be better next week. The previous week was much better for her. When being interviewed by Philip Schofield she mentioned some sort of injury as well, however this was never part of her VT.

I do think that by positive or negative VTs the producers of the show can influence the audience to a certain extend as well.

I think we all know that DOI is a popularity contest as well. And it is wanted by the producers of the show. They would have the other option as well, and that would be only to use the judges scores to decide who's leaving the show.

I have attended a pre-recording of the ITV Boyzone tribute show for Stephen Gately this Monday, which will be shown on ITV on the 21st March. Mikey was in good spirits, very happy and smiling and he was dancing to all the songs as well. He reassured the audience several times that he is ok. I find it a bit odd though that he is skating to a Ronan Keating song next week.
