Is it just me who is getting really fed up of these people?

Any mention of fast food, microwaved food, TV dinners etc, and they are straight in with thier snooty comments and 'holier than thou' type attitude.

Ok, WE GET IT. You cook every single meal from scratch, which therefore makes you a far better human being than the rest of us who sometimes like a McDonalds or KFC.

Honestly its making me wanting to stop coming in and reading the threads in the this forum, and I like reading about what people are having for tea

Food is food, and we all have different tastes. Stop being such snobs and stuck up arses to others who enjoy fast food once in a while, and who dont have the worlds most healthy diets all the time.

I wont mention any names, but there are certain posters who I see doing it alot.

Stop it please.

Rant over.

Agreed

I'm a vegetarian but I don't lecture or belittle those who eat meat, it's a personal choice what you choose to eat. It doesn't make anyone right or wrong just because they choose differently.

I can think of one as well who has mentioned that people should only cook at home and not eat out - chip shops are a no-no and chain pubs will serve food that will cause long term health problems!

Even to go as far as saying that someone should have made a picnic and eaten it in a car park instead of going to a pub.

It's just one of those things. I've posted on one of the Come Dine With Me threads on here in the TV forum section and I've noticed it on there.

The veggie argument popped up on there as I knew it would. I'm veggie but I eat fish - people always want to tell me what the 'proper' term is for it but I I'm not really that bothered! I don't tell meat eaters what to call themselves!

&with regards to the snobs - maybe some people do have a perfect life with a nanny, a cleaner, etc - while they make piles of pancakes every morning (like an American mom) squeeze fresh juice for their kids and make fresh coffee while they sit in the conservatory reading the papers - but the rest of us don't, er - do we?

Most of us grab some tea and toast - and get to the schools or off to work.

oh come on- it's just one poster at the moment- new and not used to our friendly easygoing ways on food.

We'll have no trouble here.......

Having someone lecture you on processed foods is annoying but I also find assumptions like this equally as grating.

People should quit the judgement and just talk about delicious food, s'what this forum is here for afterall

Well I will admit to preferring home cooked food but i'm not averse to the odd sausage & egg McMuffin, using oven chips, opening a jar of curry sauce etc.
I think everyone in this forum rubs along together pretty well in general and the OP is sounding a touch OTT.

After reading the posts on this forum from a particular FM (Sounds like "Slantey"), I know who this thread is aimed at, and all I can say is that I have developed a hankering for some fresh home made Troll.

Don't forget I said home made. None of that Slug and Lettuce cr*p, I can tell you...... Now, where to eat this fresh home made Troll....

Hmmmmm maybe a picnic in my car....

Just don't let it wind you up. If you start taking each post to heart you'd probably have a heart attack within the hour. Ignore them and carry on with your day.

Im definetly not just talking about one poster, its been happening for a while.

It doesnt wind me up, I just think its pointless and not needed. I assure you I dont let it ruin my day, infact, I eat several big macs just to prove a point....not sure who to but I enjoy them.

Any fast food type thread pops up and you will see what I mean.

What happened to live and let live?

Some people like fast food & takeaways and some people don't. Does it really matter?

I agree, the food snobs are annoying me too. What is wrong with buying the occasional convenience/cheat foods etc?

You talkin' 'bout me !?

I don't care what you eat. I usually cook from scratch and I enjoy it, but occasionaly I eat cr@p from a take away.

Pescatarian

Home cooked meals are best, sadly they often take time to cook and in our busy lives these days fast food remains a strong temptation

I cook from scratch with the odd take away thrown in, but as LaChatte Gitane said, I don't really care what other people eat.
I am a bit taken aback though that someone would suggest that people who do cook from scratch have a whole host of servants to look after their other needs, e.g. nanny/cleaner. We certainly don't and we both work.
Not been around on the Food Forum much of late due to lack of time, so am now curious about who these posters are that OP is referring to, must go on a trawl.

Who are these food snobs? Last Friday I ate at a Michelin starred restaurant, £150 for 2 people. This Friday i had Scampi & Chips in the pub for £6!

I was only offering an opinion, which I thought I'm entitled to? Was also trying to be a bit humorous - which obviously didn't come across and obviously failed! DOH!

I suppose I am not interested in microwave/fast food threads as this forum is about food and drink, and I take that to mean cooking on the whole. Otherwise, what's the point of interest?

I take cooking to mean cooking, not reheating or using something from a jar. What's there to discuss about making a Dolmio sauce meal? Cooking from scratch isn't being a food snob, it's being normal. It's a perfectly normal thing to cook a meal using ingredients. Too many people think it's weird or freakish to cook nowadays, and that ready meals/ sauces/jars are the only way to go. Most people who say they don't have time to cook from scratch probably don't even know how long things take to cook, they are just used to saying it.

However, I find it quite amusing when some posters like to go on and on and on about where they eat and what it cost. I love talking about restaurants, don't get me wrong, but a couple of people sound like they're just trying to show off and it gets quite yawnsome.

I think there are one or two posters who think they are the last word on certain things, but I don't read their comments any more.

I kind of dislike the food snob label, it gets chucked around like an insult but I don't think there is anything snobby about wanting to eat tasty well prepared food, or hunt out interesting or good quality ingredients.

If people are putting other people down fair enough you have a point but I've not seen much of it here.

Agreed, this forum has always been the one that has been the least argumentative. Got some great advice from it in the past too.
