Over the past two weeks I've seen more bias towards/against certain contestants.

Last week they put alot of effort into to making Sharon Davis
look bad. Also, for the first time, Christopher Deen said
that he thought a contestant should have been in the skate off (I believe it was Emily). Janye and Chris have
always been postive about contestants, so I don't understand why the sudden bad-mouthing.
It was almost like sending a message to vote these contestants out.

Also this week there was over the top "pimping" for
Mikey. Even after he performed the producers scrambled
to find a clip of Mikey falling and getting injured. Never
before have I seen producers trying sooooo hard to get
sympathy votes for a contestant. It was like sending
a message to "please save this contestant over the others".
Then they kept giving updates that Mikey was injured and getting treatment from the physio. Ice skaters (and
celeb contestants) get injured all the time but the producers
don't blab on and on repeatedly about it.

Contestants should be treated equality and the public vote
should be based on their performaces not extenal "pimping" or "villifying" from TPTB.

Totally agree, they should just give an honest report of what happened through the week in the VT, let them do their skate and let the public decide for themselves who they should support, not push one agenda or another onto the audience at home. There's been a lot of bias this year

Totally agree; how many times did we have to hear about Mikey?
He's just not up to the others standards. Basically in a word he is c***!

It's an entertainment show. The ITV producers had some dramatic footage of Mikey falling which they hadn't had time to include in his VT. Of course they showed it, falls and crashes are always thought to make good TV!

Still questionable, though.

Do they normally make comments like that?

Yes, but they were also making a big deal about how the fall would have affected his performance. I don't think I've ever seem them trying so hard to help a contestant get votes before.

They have to build up the drama a bit. It wouldn't be such good telly if they just showed him fall and then said "but it's ok, he didn't hurt himself". They seen to think they need drama, controversy, shock horror stories and a bit of romance if they can manage it on all these shows. Don't ask me why the producers think that, but they do seem to. It'd be nice if just once they could let the show stand on its own merits without trying to build up the drama, but I guess that's asking too much.

And it's strange in that I would have thought he would have been pretty much guaranteed to get them anyway.

I think if anyone of them had fallen it would have been shown with all the sympathy blah blah. I really don't see that Mikey was treated any differently than say if Gary had fallen!

There's something odd about Mikey - starting with picking him in the first batch for the tour when it wasn't clear he would make the last 8 on merit. Agree the Sunday VT was overly positive, but its followed by a weak performance and bad comments to match (though with a few get outs) and then a rscue job with the knee incident. Whats the situation on tickets for the tour? I thought they sold out easily so why would you want a boyband star to draw more people in ? Gareth Gates in the Les Mis tour, which is even more sold out, or Duncan in Legally Blonde suggests it may be a trend to use any male pop star they can come up with to promote these things?

Not sure whats design and whats accidental otherwise - some people get randomly spun up and then down - Danny for example.

Thats because they share the first middle and last slots around between the best people until they have been there too often when you fnd Hayley near the end or on earlier. If you look at the show so far how many times have Hayley, Daniella and Gary been last or next to last......

That's true - and it was even more obvious last year if I remember. I don't think Ray ever went first and was near the end nearly every week, possibly because
a) his ability was so far ahead of the rest it would have made them look worse than they were or
b) quite a lot of people were watching principally to see what Ray would come up with that week and to put him on early would have meant they lost that reason for watching.

Until this week, Hayley, Gary and Daniella have been the only celebs to score over 20 (apart from Mikey in wk 4) so they've shared the showy spots between them. Maybe Danny might be given one or other next week after this week's score?

Were the ratings unusually high that year?

Because it not, then what's the reaon for thinking people were watching just to see Ray?

Just suggesting a possibility.

I do that quite a lot...

I do remember a fair few posts saying that last year was no competition and the only reason they were watching was to see what Ray would do. Ray was certainly on late most weeks and I just threw the idea in as a possible reason for it.

A hellava lot less times than we heard about Pam bashing her chin when skating with D Seaman! And besides, it isn't Mikey's fault if the producers decided to show footage of his fall; they showed Kieron's as well.
