Anyone else think that DOI has got stuck in a rut?...they keep wheeling out the same old things every series, props week, flying, bolero. It would be better if they freshened it up by coming up with something different!

I think we have just got used to watching it, so we know what to expect. Bit like Strictly really; they (producers) of both should strive to bring in something fresh and new each series - though I've no idea what exactly (but then I'm not a producer!!!!)

Think they really do need to do something as the show is getting a bit boring now and predictable too.

I don't know, maybe it should be put out of its misery, I used to really enjoy it but I am finding the series really hard going!

Ditching Bolero - may be replacing it with the "Barnum" or "You don't send me flowers" routines or even a quick Mack and Mabel or actually doing something new for a change.

Ditch Jason Gardiner and Emma Bunton and bring Torville and Dean onto the Ice Panel at least then we will have a panel who actually know what they are talking about or even use Keiran Bracken. He is now a pro skater.

Let the professional skaters do the choreography for their nominated celeb.

Lower the noise levels and cut out all the hype.

Bring in some of the top skaters of today, as guests, to do their routines - so we can see different styles of ice-dance.

Then may be the show won't look tired. It needs new blood.

What about inviting some of the T&D equivalents from the other DOI shows around Europe to come and do a guest slot? Their old rivals Natalia Bestemianova and Andrei Bukin do the Russian show and it would be fabulous to see them perform over here - there's also a DOI in Holland and possibly elsewhere. If they can get over their frostiness - I'd love to see Karen and Nicky skate together again too - and I would absolutely LOVE to see Robin perform!

I think current skaters aren't allowed to have anything to do with the show (that's why Marka Humphrey never came back after series 1) but no reason why we couldn't see some of the retired stars who have turned pro.

I agree that some of the routines T&D have come up with have started to look a bit samey over the years - we only get flashes of brilliant innovative choreography like the Winter Sports one last week, so why not have a series where the pro skaters do their own choreography. Obviously they need to be given the music and know of any required elements/ themes, but that would free up T&D to be on the panel.

Get rid of Jason and Emma. We don't need to have "performance" judges with the skating panellists there. Robin and Nicky have both choreographed Ice Shows, and Karen obviously does a lot of choreo with T&D for the show. I have also seen Robin dance when in panto and he is actually pretty good. I would hazard a guess that their choreography credits are far better than Jason's.

Jason's contribution adds nothing to the show, and he comes across a someone who loathes sports stars and he doesn't have a problem letting us know who he likes and dislikes - what about the objectivity??? I feel sorry for the celebs having to stand and listen to his horrible remarks, and the coaches who have to work hard on building the celebs confidence back up.

Perhaps letting the pros do some of their own routines to open the show.

Yes definitely. I'd love to see more of them. Think they're underused.

I think Bolero has just about run its course as well.

I think the show is very very drawn out......quite often there is 30 mins before any of the actual competitors get onto the ice for a routine.......

Totally agree. Cut down on all the VTs too, we really don't need them. Maybe extend the friday show (get rid of Colleen first though, can't be doing with more of her) and show the training footage on that for those who are interested.

yeah i agree completely with the get rid of emma and jason and they should have chris and jayne as judges.

As much as they are legends and i think they should still perform i think that chris and jane should perform every odd week and the the other weeks the pro's should open the show :P.

More guest's, i think the saturdays and pixie lott were great because they are young and current !, Kathrine would have been better if she'd have sung a more known song and i think if they really tried they could get some good good guest's on. im not saying they havnt already but they really could get some good ones because lets face it torvill and dean are the king & queen of what they do so for most musicians it should be an honour to perform with them

As I said in a different context on another thread, I wish they would ditch the training VTs; basically they are the same everytime/every-year .... Jayne, Chris or Karen's hubby showing celebs how to do a few steps ... celebs falling over, celebs falling over again and again and ...... We've seen it all and it's become BORING!

And yes, ditch Bolero in favour of one of J&C's other iconic dances.

Marika was one of the chief judges at the Olympics, so she's gone on the better things. And many of T&D's rivals and successors are too busy with coaching competitive skaters. But I do agree with you on most points.

I'd love to see guest performances from other top skaters. That would be an easy way for them to provide some variety.

And I do think the Bolero is getting a bit tired with overuse.

Little tweaks could make a world of difference.

i think that the skating rink should be bigger or them have a different design, i also think that they should include more skating im not saying get rid of lifts cause they are what make the show but they should do some more skating for the females

A bigger rink would be great for the pro routines, and also if they brought in guest skaters, but would make it much harder for the celebs, most of whom can only just cover the ice as it is.

They kind of made a mistake throwing everything in the first series, leaving them nowhere to go in future series.

This year for the final I'd combine the flying and Bolero to give both a new twist. To replace the flying round at the beginning I think giving each couple a different Torvill and Dean routine would be best, then their favourite - then third couple voted out before the flying Bolero.

I think also perhaps at the semi-final stage as well as a routine with their partner each skater should also have to do a solo routine - a complete (though relatively short) routine, not just 30 seconds before their partner skates on.

I've no major problem with the judges myself, though wish they wouldn't cut Robin off so much. Just wish they'd control the crowd from booing Jason so much he's inaudible, especially as what he says is usually right.

The show structure needs looking at - they've been far too long this year with the performance shows and 10-20 minutes could easily be cut off each week. I agree with the idea of professional guests on the results show, which if they went for an X Factor style Sat/Sun split would work really well.

Talking of the results show, really annoying they close the lines as soon as the show starts now (and expect you to get to the phone within 20 seconds and recall the number you need too!).
