Best PAYG Sim for Android phone
Hello,
One of my kids was given an upgrade android phone by Orange. He wants to use the new phone as a secondary phone with a PAYG sim. He wants to spend about £10-00 a month, that's all but will use the phone mostly for the internet. He doesn't do a lot of texting. What would be the best sim/provider for him talking into account this is an android phone and he wants to top up when he wants to. |

O2 have a similar package - £10 monthly gives 300 text messages and 500MB of data (they call it, for some reason, "unlimited"). However, you only get this once a month - you have to top up before an "anniversary date". Greater top-ups get you more texts (I think it goes unlimited at £30) but the internet allowance stays the same. I prefer O2, they have a UK call centre and their network seems rather more robust; I don't mind paying the extra. Other networks might have similar packages, they are just the two I know. Be aware that the upgrade phone may well be locked to Orange. |

Hey - take a look at giffgaff http://giffgaff.com/
Free mobile data until the end of May, free calls to other giffgaff customers (so get your mates on board too), only 8p per min and 4p per SMS. Also opportunities to get some money depending how involved in helping other customers or doing advertising or marketing too. Perfect for an android phone. |

giffgaff could be worth a look too (virtual network running on O2). 8p calls, 4p texts (£10 a month would equate to 125 minutes or 250 texts or combo of the two - e.g. 75 mins, 100 texts). Internet is completely free until the end of May (price after this yet to be announced, but expect it to be pretty competitive). Also calls/texts to other phones on giffgaff are free too (and this isn't a limited offer - just have to top up at least £10 every 3 months to get it).
Check it out at giffgaff.com - if you fancy giving them a go then you can order a SIM for free, or if you prefer I can send you one and you'll get a bonus £5 credit with your initial topup - just PM me for details. Edit: Heh - see someone else had the same idea! |

I'm part of the Web Relations Team at Vodafone and I'm here to offer some advice. I'd certainly ensure that the phone that your son is using is unlocked so it can be used on any network. If it is, there are usually guys at local markets that can unlock it for about £10. Other networks have been mentioned so I thought I'd let you know what we can offer. I've included a link here It gives all the information on what we offer, plus we also offer Bonus Bank, where you get 10% back on every top up. I hope this helps. Ian Web Relations Team Vodafone UK |

I'm part of the Vodafone Web Relations team and would like to offer some help and advice. As you son is looking for mainly Internet access I would recommend a SIM only deal which would also include a good amount of texts and minutes. We would also look to keep within his £10 per month budget! Feel free to contact me to see what I can do for you using the link below; please include MMM135 in the subject field so that the email comes directly through to my team. http://bit.ly/1h8KuG I look forward to hearing from you shortly! Kay Web Relations Team Vodafone UK P.S. Sorry for the duplicate post! I didn't realise Ian had already replied. |

dear vodafone
STOP SPAMMING THE FORUMS...
you cant offer a contract to a minor... your sim only deals are less value now then 1 month ago. and your payg internet is stupid expensive. if you have something real to say great. otherwise shut it. I like how your post and the post advice is a simple copy and paste job. wow great help. |

I'm surprised that companies are getting away with this on DS, the advice offered to customers is a good thing but when it comes to spamming, i thought that was against the rules!
any mods listening

any mods listening ![]() Does this mean we can all post whatever advertisements we want, or do Vodafone have some sort of deal with DS? Their pay as you go is hideously expensive and only someone with no other option would ever use it these days. |
