Just wondered what you all think about BT in terms of their progression forward. I have been with Vision since the early days, but have become a little frustrated that the only really 'new' content made available are the pay per view films.

In my opinion, while back catalogues are great to add to a service, it isn't enough to carry the service forward.

I know that BT are supposedly waiting for the call from ofcom to force premium content onto the system at a reasonable price, but how long will this be? And what if you don't follow football, thus have no interest in Sky Sports? BT haven't mentioned about bringing Sky Movies along, which is also part of the ofcom consultation, neither have they mentioned whether such linear pay-tv channels may arrive.

Will the above ever happen? Is it a case that our countries broadband infrastructure just wouln't be able to cope with such pressure on the network? Do BT not think Vision is that important to them? If there reason not to do it is down to the potential cost for the customer, shouldn't that be our choice whether to buy or not?

Again, my opinion, but I feel that BT really need to do something extra and soon!

Whether you think the Sky player service is unreliable or not, it has now added Sky1 and will be adding Living and Bravo, as 'live' channels in the 'coming months'. If Sky can do it without QOS, shouldn't BT be able to with the security of a reliable delivery method?

Just wanted others thoughts on whether you feel BT are doing enough??

I just wish they would do a monthly subscription deal for their movies (not just the bland PictureBox)

Moon on a Stick - Genius
I genuinely clicked on that

Been wondering myself why they can't do what Tiscali(TalkTalk) already do and IP Vision will be doing later this year in regards channels available however.....

I'm not overly concerned though, I'm an on-demand fanboy anyway (it's why I'm BTV rather than Sky).

I watch v little live TV so although I agree BT should be looking at providing a more exciting lineup but i'd prefer they spent money on O.D. program rights (perhaps on 1st run or exclusive content) directly rather than pay third party providers and the infrastucture to deliver them (only because I'd prob still have to record it)

i think BT is now waiting to see how this Project Canvas thing will do, since they have put money into it.
I don't think you will see much new happening on BTVision until then.

Saying that, what have Sky done over the last few years apart from stick some HD channels on and then they stick a £120 a year on for it.

I ditched BTV a couple of months ago for faster broadband with Utility Warehouse, I was supposed to get 20MB but get 12MB at best (usually 7 or 8) which is only 1mb faster than what I had before.

The thing is that I do miss BTV and am looking forward to my contract ending with UW and I will almost certainly sign back up with BTV. When you consider what you get for the price there's nothing that comes close.

With the likes of Project Canvas and hopefully TVCatchUp (both in HD) they'll really have something to shout about.

I've just been moved to the upto 20meg package with BT but cant test it because we're living in freinds loft while our house is refurbed !!.

And yes I miss BTV too - been very busy at weekends working on the house etc and with no BTV I have to rely on I have to use iplayer which is scratchy at best using wireless up in the loft !!.

I had a look at this Utility warehouse, but it is a strange thing, it is like a club, I also found out they use the Opal network, which is part of Carphone warehouse, so that put me off right away.

TBH, they are not that much cheaper than BT.
Looking at a few ISP's at the moment. One thing I did notice about the Utility warehouse is that it is only a monthly contract, whihc is strange considering that they use a LLU service.

I would not go that farm Bt is not cheap by any means, saying that they are not the most expensive either. It depends what you mean when you say what you get for the price?

To get vision to start with you need a broadband service, so if you don't have one or need one, that will cost you just under £16 a month for the minimum Bt broadband service, then BTV subscription on top.

You are dreaming, HD on broadband is a waste of time, on BTV now you have to download the HD content before you can watch it, and unless you get a good speed, you had it for HD on Canvas.

If anyone is going to go for BTV, I suggest they wait and see what will happen, if/when Canvas comes out, other wise they could end up paying for a box that could become obsolete. Ok, i know that BT is giving thr box away at the moment.

The existing boxes are quite capable of receiving canvas.

Of course this would not fit in with your usual hidden agenda!

Are they, do you really know that? since the project is still in it's early days, no one really knows the specs of the project. Even if the box can cope with the content, will they be able to cope with any other service or feature that canvas will use?

I know that it is all software and software can be changed and updated, but since as far as I know no one knows what nww canvas boxes are going used as a O/S, they may be completely different.

Saying that, since Bt is also putting money into Canvas, I presume that they would make sure that their own service is compatible.

Wait and see i suppose, if it ever gets off the ground, not that I am ever going to have it, certainlynot with Talk Talk getting into it it.

Of course this would not fit in with your usual hidden agenda!
:yawn::yawn::yawn:
so what is my hidden agenda?
