Hello Tom,
There are lots of web based unlocking companies out there, some much better then others.
When I wrote the Orange Hero couldn't be un- locked other then buy Orange,---I was correct up to February of this year.
Putting to one side poor quality web based firms or fake unlocking codes available for the Orange Hero my understanding is there was a bug or a prevention in the Orange software installed that prevented the phone being unlocked other then by Orange.
Whether this was deliberate or otherwise many web unlocking firms would no longer touch the Orange Hero.
However this state of affairs has changed when HTC recently released a new rom update for the Orange Hero.
My understanding is this bug or prevention has been resolved and some of these unlocking firms can now generate unlock codes for Orange Heros successfully.
Unlock Now, ( your link ) is one of the better companies as far as the Hero is concerned but they have had a few failures if web forums are any thing to go by.
Unusually but perhaps wisely our son is hesitant to use a web based solution in this instance preferring to go through Orange.
I guess if the phone was coming up to a year old he might think differently and pay a fiver for a code,----but not this time.
