Can anyone tell me what bits and pieces I need to buy in order to connect my phone and PC using Bluetooth? Is it cheap and easy?

You just need to buy a Bluetooth dongle for your pc (sometimes called a transceiver key). You can get one for £20-25.
That's the only thing you need, so you can transfer things to your hearts content after you get it!
