I'm probably very cynical, but surely the voting public aren't that racist?!

Jon is a pretty good singer. I think he's been given some bad songs and definitely didn't deserve to leave. Haeley wasn't up to it, but Michelle and Jermaine were better than Katie & Aaron (in my opinion).

Oh well, I guess they've all got to go at some point. Seems weird the way it worked out though.....

Jermaine was TERRIBLE in the live shows whereas Aarn has been very good.

Michelle was decent but i think Katie is stronger.

To be fair if you hadn't seen the results its a bit daft coming on to the forum after the results had just aired.

I think on the whole it was a completely fair result; everyone that went deserved to go (although I agree, Michelle was better than Katie). I would also say that Todrick deserved to go too...
And the contestants choose their own songs btw

Yeah you're right about Todrick, he was terrible. I don't think any of them could win, but I think Michelle and Jermaine would make better popstars than Katie or Aaron. Aaron is very awkward and cheesy. Katie is just plain irritating, and (to quote Simon - much though it pains me!) she is like a little pageant princess. As I said, I think it's just a coincidence, it just seemed very strange that it was all on the same week.

PS. Forgot they choose their own songs. Jon picked crap songs, but I still believe he's better than that.

Michael Lynche was black last time I looked. It was just that the "non white" singers who were voted off were the worst. Haely, despite early promise, was dreadful. Michelle didn't show anything of any interest. Jermaine was dreadful. John was dull. Nothing to do with race there. I would take any of them back in Katie's place though. She is just far too squeaky clean and perfect girly princess like.

After Jermaines diva attitude I knew he would get voted off and Hayley coudn't even sing in key so they both deserved to go. Michelle probably deserved another chance cos Didi or Katie were worse than her. Jon seemed like a reasonable singer but very forgettable.

Tyler and the blonde girl who went last week were white as far as I could see, so went before the four this week, and you don't vote people off AI, you vote for who you like best - which sort of ruins the racist argument.

John was an okay singer who looked extremely akward on stage, Jermaine was terrible, Haeley was sweet but painful to listen to and Michelle was completely lost in the crowd, no surprise any of them went.

They also had ethnic winners with Ruben, Fantasia, and Jordin in the past, and many others made top 5.
I think that they were voted off because they were weak.. and the race situation is a coincidence.

Yeh TBH Jermaine and Haeley were so weak that they would have gone whatever race they are.

Michelle and John fell into the trap of being forgettable....

Don't think race has much to do with it, although last year we had the first all white final 5 (Although Allison was part hispanic I believe), maybe this year will be the same...

Allison's parents are both from El Salvadore which I just had to Google as the Japanese sounding surname always throws me.

There was a race thing on Idol years back when Elton John called the American public racist. It was the time Fantasia, Jennifer and LaToya were bottom three when they were clearly miles better than the others.

But they were three very similar singers and split the vote - Fantasia went on to win. Similar is generally thought to have happened with Michael Johns and David, they were both appealing to a similar demographic, but when David was perceived to be in trouble with Innocent, the vote swung heavily towards him, few were splitting their vote, and Michael paid the price.

He picked his own songs, if he can't pick the right songs for himself he's not ready for the competition really.
I liked him! his look and his voice. and attitude too.

I was thinking the same thing.
Seems very obvious this year. Even Simon said "We all know who's going".

I loved John's voice and no way should he have gone before two or three of the boys who can't even hold a note!

Michelle was a good singer, her performance wasn't as bad as others, yet she goes. Popularity contest with racist undertones is what I think.

It would be very naive to think that some of them are not. It's a cross section of people who vote and some are undoubtedly racist.

It makes a change from last year when the voters were called homophobic for not voting for Adam in the final. It's part popularity, part talent and part where you come from I think. I also think people are bored with the r and b style like Michelle and are going for quirky people instead this year like Lilly, Crystal and Siobhan. In my old lady opinion it will be down to a indie type versus a squeaky clean type like last year was a rock/pop/musical type v squeaky clean Christian. The year before was rock lite v squeaky clean as well. I think the Americans like the pretty, God fearing "nice" contestants that kids can look up to. I could be wrong but at this stage I'd bet on a Katie and Crystal final with Katie winning. Personally I'd prefer to see Siobhan and Lilly but time will tell.

That was funny, but you're so right. In fact, I thought Haeley was absolutely dreadful and embarrassing, especially as all the other contestants seemed so upset that she was going.
