DOI Friday last night was a particularly cringeworthy example...
Yes, I've just seen that (it's now shown on Saturday afternoon in Scotland for some reason), and I have to agree.

Ignazio - think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Although Hayley is not amongst my favourites, I can see she is a good performer on the ice and have not joined in the Hayley bashing that has been going on as I think some of it has been OTT.

However IMO in the last couple of weeks they do seem to be pushing the showmance bit in interviews. I let it go at first but after last night's DOI Friday it's now starting to irritate me.

Hayley and Dan are totally playing up to a showmance, as is the show itself. Very irritating.

Regarding the leak, I'm not surprised it's between Mikey and Hayley, I thought it would be and Mikey would win on popularity unless he got injured. Interesting it's the other way round, Hayley was more popular until Mikey got injured.

If it's a sympathy vote I doubt he can win on that, it can disappear very quickly, and quite a few seem to resent him now because his skating has got worse, so I don't know, but probably Hayley will win though?

If these figures are genuine, one wonders what the motivation would be in leaking them? (I have no doubt that leaked figures are leaked deliberately.)

Why would a young lady who is engaged to someone else pretend to have a romance with a gay man? You're seeing something that is not there. Some people are just like that, just very friendly.

Maybe it's just the first news, as "Hayley is leading every week" would make for a pretty dull headline?
Creates a bit of competition?

I normally take the Daily Star with a very large pinch of salt but they were accurate when they said that Chris Hollins had been leading the public vote in Strictly (and that was about halfway through the series).
I thought strictly didn't release the numbers, so how do we know the star was right?

I'm sorry but you've lost me - I see nothing wrong with close friendship between the sexes nor do I think that they try to incite the sort of 'are they, aren't they?' curiousity of which they're accused.

I see their relationship as nothing more than pals completely at ease with each other - and without the need to either hide or invent a non existent romance.

They seem genuine extroverts - and act accordingly. Why should they conform in a manner dictated by others?
I totally agree...

Nothing against Mikey. But he is so boring to watch.

Agreed - He doesn't do anything for me on the ice if I'm honest. I think he is a lovely guy, great personality and nice partnership with Mel...but his limited skating abilities make his performances pretty boring, none of them I would watch again.

I still haven't seen DOI Friday - so I shouldn't judge until I have seen it - I hope there is nothing so blatant in what you say that I end up agreeing with you.

I can't for the life of me understand how obvious friendship can be interpreted as showmance.

It's common knowledge that Dan is gay - and Hayley is engaged.

How does Gary pimp his child? I've seen her in the audience (where I've also seen Daniella's youngsters) - and once I think on a vt, but not so frequently as to warrant an accusation of pimping. Besides it's the producers who decide how the vts are edited; we see what they want us to see.

As for injuries - Kieron's lip could hardly go unnoticed; Hayley was injured on live television so was hardly in a position to hide it, but she made no fuss and we saw no more of it than we did Daniella's knees.

Danny has remained injury free and I've seen no attention seeking there - only with Mikey have I seen the producers courting the sympathy vote (injury and Stephen G).

I'm not a Daniella fan and there are times I think she's been overmarked, but again that's just opinion and not her fault anyway.

imo she fully deserves respect and admiration for beating her addiction and coming out the other side as a down to earth, self deprecating young woman with such a positive attitude to life - but I think it's possible to give credit where it's due without slagging off other contestants.
Totally agree!

I got far more cheesed off seeing Emily's mum all the time than I ever did on the ONE occasion that Gary's daughter actually said anything on screen!

I had never heard of Danniella and knew nothing about her past until I read it on these boards. She comes over as hard-working and positive to me and I can't understand why her past should affect the way people vote!

As for Hayley and Dan they are obviously very good friends and very at ease with each other. I think that's lovely. Maybe I'm just not cynical enough.

You see, this is the kind of comment that bugs me, like she has totally written off everyone else.
Same as at the start when she said she was a bit worried after seeing the boys skate, again like she had written off the rest of the girls.

Truthfully I think Hayley is a worrier. I don't for a moment think she's written anyone else off. Regardless of who was reported as being in the lead, she'd have tweeted their name. Plus look at who is left - she was right to fear the boys because they outnumber the girls by 2 to 1.

To be fair, her comment sounds like a perfectly reasonable comment to me. She said she needs to pull it out of the bag ergo meaning, improve her performance rather than rely on her popularity. If she wants to win (and there is nothing wrong with it), then she would worry about the person who gets the highest public vote. What comment would you make?

Exactly...at the end of the day, it's a competition. Why is it so dreadful wanting to win it? To be honest, I really think she wants to win it more for Dan than herself, as they have such a great connection...and she would be delighted if they could both take the crown.

It bugs you that Hayley is a girl who can see facts. Hayley has done nothing but point out facts - factually, when she pointed it out Gary and Daniella were the closest to her. Factually, the leak says (whether it's true or not) that Mikey has overtaken her.

So how does she respond to these facts?

She responds to them by saying that she's going to work harder. And that's considered a bad thing - poor girl.

I'm starting to wonder if she would be more popular if she was a liar and pretended that people were threats when they aren't. Is there ANYONE on here who thinks that Danny, for example, is a threat to her?

I think Hayley & Dan will win.

The DS polls are always way off from reality.

Hayley & Dan will win, the others are fighting for 2nd place

Was that the 'crush' she had on him when she was a teenager?

It's a fact that the Star says it. But she was treating "mikeys over taken me in the poll" as the fact.

There's also a big difference between seeing a fact and thinking it's worth pointing out.

The boys didn't outnumber the girls by anything like 2 to 1 when she first seemed to think her only competition was the guys.

Exactly...at the end of the day, it's a competition. Why is it so dreadful wanting to win it? To be honest, I really think she wants to win it more for Dan than herself, as they have such a great connection...and she would be delighted if they could both take the crown.
Who said it was dreadful to want to win it? If you follow the ">" links back, the post said it was "like she has totally written off everyone else", with nothing about her wanting to win.
