Saturday Kitchen
The wine section, where they recomend a wine to go with a meal they've cooked - its just one big advert isn't it. I wander if the BBC get paid by the wine maker?

I'm not too sure on that point - but I don't think it's the most important part of the show anyway. I just like to see where they are - and whether it's my hometown!
What I dislike is the constant re-runs of celebrity masterchef - which must be years old now!

I don't think it's an advert for the company's as Iv'e seen the chefs slate the choice of the wine buff on more than one occasion.
You often see on the BBC food programmes, chef's referring to a brand name with a disciptive word, because advertising protocol forbids them to say the brand name. As far as food is concerned I think this is totally wrong, as, one of the major factors in preparing a meal is finding out what to buy, and where to buy it. Terry (C.F) |

Apart from being pretentious I don't think it is an advert. They do seem to pick a random town and shop/supermarket. So if they choose from Adsa or Tesco you have a pretty good chance of getting the same wine.
I just don't see the point that every meal has to be drunk with a glass of wine, especially when sometimes the meal is a breakfast, brunch (after all the program is broadcast live at mid-morning) snack or a cuisine that doesn't suit wine. There have been many occasions where the dish has been a spicy asian or south american dish and the chef has actually recommended drinking beer/lager or even a cocktail but the expert doesn't even seem to consider the possibility. |
